In 1969, French avant-garde singer Brigitte Fontaine teamed up with The Art Ensemble of Chicago to record the surrealist revolutionary anthem  "Le Goudron" . In 2012, Portland electro-pop duo YACHT have, in their own words, "reinvented its naive-apocalyptic candor for a neon-soaked dance floor, our preferred autonomous zone." The buzz of bass and disco-ready horns would indicate the transformation was a success, with the woob-heavy cut ready for mass spins in discos across Paris.
