This paper cycle turned out to be quite a busy one for live music, both local and otherwise, and there are a number of shows we couldn't wedge into the paper this week due to space and time. Luckily the rules of space and time do not apply here on the blog* so let me fill you in with some quick bites of info. Think of this blog post as an appendix to the voluminous information already provided in this week's Mercury **. Ready, steady, read***! *this is inaccurate **this is pretentious ***this is dumb [...]
What happens when Sign Language interpreters go rogue? The new video from Body Parts answers this FAQ, and much much more. It seems that when left to their own devices, our ambidextrous friends go a little loco. The very talented guy and gal featured in the clip are actually Body Parts band members Ryder Bach and Alina Cutrono (respectively), [...]

So many times we fall behind for things that are out of our control. Other times it's because we're working extra hard. Things are about to take a drastic turn around here in the next few weeks, but rest assured, you'll be the beneficiary of it. VERY excited... Moonface 's last record was a favorite of mine and thanks to continued creative film making, this video for 'Faraway Lightning' is probably the best video Spencer Krug 's eloquent voice has ever been associated with. [...]

Here's a smiler for an otherwise lameass Thursday morning. Body Parts is an LA-based five-piece who bring an irrestibly danceable ruckus that reminds me a little of Talking Heads or Tom Tom Club. Formed in 2009 by Ryder Bach, the band is currently working on their new Fire Dream EP , but in the meantime, found a few spare moments to choreograph and film a video for Doing Things , a great number that was cherrypicked from their previous On Purpose EP . [...]
A wonderfully eccentric music video from Body Parts for the track "Doing Things," which comes from the band's 2011 album, On Purpose . Listen here . Ups to director Mike Karnell. It's an engaging watch from beginning to end.

Body Parts - Doing Things Wow. Totally blown away by this brand new video by LA natives, Body Parts . There album On Purpose was released nearly a year ago last July, and is truly a unique and worthwhile listen. They do something, and they do it well, and many can’t do it, and many can’t do it well. In there words, the album explores “ foreground music (as opposed to background), our obsession with irony, and our difficulty with sincerity.” Created and [...]
"Nobody is original," Ryder Bach wails in "Doing Things," but damned if the brains behind Body Parts isn't trying. The L.A.-based experimental pop quintet is all sharp edges, steep curves and biting humor on its album "On Purpose," released last year. If it weren't so precise, Body Parts could be construed as pop's answer to free association — Bach's voice pulling you through the instrumental chaos until, slowly, everything starts to make sense. The video for "Doing Things" works on a lot of levels (especially intellectually). Watching it is what I'm doing right now. And you should be [...]
Here's a pretty impressive video from L.A.'s Body Parts, whose athletic indie-rock gets a gymnast-flexible, colorful screen interpretation in "Doing Things." It's very Reggie Watts, sorta Feist and entirely watchable. The band's great On Purpose EP is out now. Doing Things by Body Parts
