In the week plus since the Beastie Boys' Adam Yauch (aka MCA) died, we've seen more than a few tributes, taking form in an interesting variety of ways. This re-creation (and also re-imagining) of the Beasties' classic Spike Jonze-directed video for "Sabotage" might be the best of those. Portland filmmaker James Winters re-cast the vid with his two children and a nephew-- it's spot-on, kind of hilarious, and occasionally somehow poignant. Compare and contrast....

As Adam 'MCA' Yauch passed away recently, many tributes to the late amazing musician have appeared. This one is a reinterpretation of the Beastie Boys' video for 'Sabotage', shot by Oregon filmmaker James Winters. Anything with connect four and the Beastie Boys is a winner to me...I'm just saying. Portland, Oregon's James Winters must be a pretty big Beastie Boys fan. The film maker put his whole family to work on this "Sabotage" tribute video featuring his kids and nephew as a way to pay homage to MCA.  Winters writes, "Worked on this with the wife, kids and our nephew over the past week to pay tribute to Adam "MCA" Yauch." Like any good Gen-Xer I have been sharing my love for the Beastie Boys with my son. It’s become more focused and poignant with Adam Yauch’s passing and so when I see stuff like this I can’t help but smile and feel good knowing there are other cool-ass kids out there learning about the band.
