This man doesn't do things by halves (although last week he sent through the wrong version of this track - so he's not completely infallible), but when you hear that one of the biggest and brashiest producers on the blog scene has taken on Buraka Som Sistema, you know it's not going to be a [...]

European MTV music award winning Buraka Som Sistema are my next focus. The Portugal based outfit formed in 2006 and are pioneering the 'Kuduro' genre into mainstream ears. 'Kuduro' is an progression from 'Batida' and generally involves reggae, house, hip-hop influences with uptempo, energetic African beats. Heard in the likes of M.I.A, the ever danceable genre directly translates to 'hard-as' and if you look in this next clip you'll understand why. [...]

photos by Tim Griffin "On Saturday night, we went to Buraka Som Sistema who are also a band that's more about getting people together and making them happy than anything else. Yes, they make amazing music but it was their attitude that really made the gig more enjoyable, I danced my head off, feeling alive and lucky and grateful... a feeling I intent to keep cultivating. It seems that when bands really come from a more positive place the fans respond with the same [...]
Featuring DJ Znobia, one of the greatest Angolan DJs and major contributor to the kuduro scene.
Hell friends and readers, Just got back from an amazing show. M.A.N.D.Y was everything had hoped for. With Y.Pro walking me through the night, the path was easy to follow. Spoke a little french with Mr Maqs who is in town to open for Laidback Luke tomorrow night. The dude is an exceptional DJ, I witnessed him up close earlier this year and he is very smooth on the ones and twos. Hopefully we will be interviewing Keith from AutoeEotique very shortly. Found out that Derek Mainella from Team DMT ( Social Saturday residents) reads the [...]
I posted some Buraka Som Sistema not long ago. This is the clip for the first release from the new album, Sound of Kuduro with M.I.A, Sarborosa, DJ Znobia and Puto Prata. They recorded the song and filmed the clip in Angola, with lots of Angolan hombres dancing to kuduro. I tried to dance like this in front of the mirror last night. Buraka Som Sistema - Sound of Kuduro

From Arcade Fire to Yeasayer, with stops along the way for Björk, Kanye, Weezer, and more, here are our favorite music videos of 2008. read more
The honour of Fabric's first proper artist album release has fallen to Portugal's Buraka Som Sistema and their debut album Black Diamond . Their sound has been invariably described as electro ghettotech and Euro baile funk but in reality, it is rooted in Kudoro - a genre which is thriving in Lisbon's suburbs but was born in Angola. It shares tone and rhythm with that break-off track from earlier in the year DJ Mujava's 'Township Funk'. The album, Black Diamond is well worth a look if these tunes [...]
![Tough Break, Denizens Of The Coachella Message Board! [The Truly Detestable, The Summer Festival]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1316614_lg.jpg)
Just as quickly as The Sun created a frenzy on the Coachella rumor front with an article proclaiming that the Smiths were close to reuniting for this year's festival, NME comes along to dash those hopes with a post proclaiming that neither the band nor the festival were in negotiations. Then again, considering the general reliability of information on the NME Web site—unofficial tagline: Where Up Is Often Actually Down—maybe Smiths fans should be booking their hotel room now. Either way, [...]
Back in my comfort zone--the obscure... Buraka Som Sistema are Portuguese, playing Kuduro--an Angolan Dance music that began in clubs in Luanda, and has migrated throughout the Angolan diaspora. Sharing a lot of similar raw and cacophonous sounds with Brazilian Baile Funk, they also have worked with M.I.A. Yah! Sound of Kuduro (Music Video) Their MySpace Buy Buraka at Amazon
Such a lovely day! My flat is spotless clean, u can eat off the floor basically, my fridge is stacked to the max, my bills are paid, my clothes are clean and my bedspreads are changed as well. Yeah, I got some cash today, been away shopping all day; like 3 pair of dresses...
These guys are the shizz....been diggin this and Villa Diamante. First, meet Buraka Som Sistema....From their record label page (Modular Records) Buraka Som Sistema materializes a new sound of Lisbon and the most recent Portuguese-speaking dance music bomb, kuduro. Kuduro is dance music from Angola, which pulses through the hometown of Buraka Som Sistema, Lisbon. However at its heart,Buraka Som Sistema is dance music, raw and pure.It is the meeting point for Portuguese Lil'John and Riot with Angolan producer Conductor, trying to make techno but being far far from Detroit. Joining BSS from Angola is Petty, an [...]
