Allo Darlin' stepped it up a gear with second album Europe . In fact we'd go so far to say that this is one if the most infectious guitar-built pop records of 2012 so far. Fronted by Australian Elizabeth Morris, the four-piece seem unable to escape their talent for creating hook-laden tunes with an upbeat delivery. We caught up with guitarist Paul Rains to talk pop, videos and Neighbours. Bowlegs: The storytelling on Europe is very honest and in some places quite raw. Is it sometimes quite an awkward [...]

Very few bands make me go squee anymore. The UK’s Allo Darlin’ is one. Since the first time I heard “My Heart is a Drummer” back in 2010, I was smitten. The great news is Allo Darlin’s new album Europe is due out in April on Slumberland Records in the US and Fortuna POP! in the UK. Even more exciting, Allo Darlin’ will embark on a three and a half week US tour staring on April 24th! Allo [...]

It's the afternoon prior to the second of Fortuna Pop 's 15th birthday shows at the Scala, and label founder Sean Price is in relaxed form when we meet at The Lexington, a mere stone's throw from the venue of the evening's festivities to follow. Surprisingly relaxed, seeing as he's just had the opening act of the evening pull out owing to illness. He'll remain the picture of laid-back calm for the duration of our meeting (despite having to repeatedly break off to find a replacement band), unleashing an impish grin and a pair of [...]

by BBG Allo Darlin at Rock Shop ( more by Amanda Hatfield ) Hey everyone. We had an amazing UK tour last week. Almost all of the shows were sold out and were some of the best fun crowds we've ever played to. England, Scotland and Wales - we salute you! Can't believe we waited so long to head out on a tour of our own turf.... Today our new US tour is announced - details over on the shows page. Yes we really are playing that [...]
It's not that young music fans are completely forsaking cool and disaffected guitar-rock bands for sensitive and fanciful pop bands, but there does seem some movement in that direction. Is indie-pop hip now? It does seem like indie-label music fans are embracing pop sounds more than they did a few years ago, with bands like Best Coast, Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and Dum Dum Girls getting raves from Internet tastemakers. The revitalized Slumberland, a key indie-pop label from the '90s, seems to get even more attention than they did originally. Pitchfork seems as likely to celebrate a [...]
