DC to BC was way ahead of the curve on this one. He put on a show with Kendrick Lamar a few weeks ago in DC at the 9;30 Club. It sold out, people went nuts. We missed the show and have somewhat been sleeping on Kendrick Lamar. Our eyes are now open and we're wide awake. This video, directed by downtown New York's finest Va$thie , isn't going for some convoluted concept - it's refreshingly simple. You can find "A.D.H.D" on Kendrick Lamar's Section.80 album. [...]

Two conscious hip-hop videos drop in the same day in 2011? Craaaazy. Most of you have probably seen Wayne's "How to Love" video by now, which is pretty impressive. So here's Kendrick's new visuals off of Section.80 , enjoy. Purchase: Kendrick Lamar - A.D.H.D.

Kendrick Lamar just dropped these new visuals for his song "A.D.H.D." off his mixtape Section 80. As if I could like him any more than I already do. Here's what the director, Va$htie, had to say about the video: "I wanted the video to illustrate the emotion he paints with words, while avoiding gratuitous shots of any substance. Despite the song’s title and content, the focus isn’t the drugs, but rather, that basic human experience of apathetic youth. That simple mood of emptiness which [...]
I slept on Kendrick Lamar hard! I mean, it was only a few weeks after the release of Section.80 until I jumped on the bandwagon, but in blogger time, that is a hell of a span. Anyway, Section.80 is a candidate for album of the year, so it is only right that we help support a truly remarkable project. One of my favorite tracks off the album happens to be "A.D.H.D." , which has now received the music video treatment thanks to Va$htie , is a song that keeps playing over and over in my [...]
I'm just now getting to hear Kendrick Lamar out. After he's already worked with J. Cole . After he made the 2011 XXL Freshman list. After Snoop Dogg , Game, and Dre. Dre crowned him as the new West Coast King. Right now I don't have much an opinion of him. I've only heard about 3/4 of his album Section.80 which dropped last month. All I can say is that he's different. Deep, talented, and real. I'm definitely feeling him more and more after each track and I'll [...]
Vashtie puts together some simple visuals to accompany yet anothet song by Kendrick filled to the brim with incredible lyricism. The video adds a stripped down artistic demention to a song I already loved. -daNk
Good ass video son. I have recently "gotten into" watching Friday Night Lights. I have always heard it was a good ass show, and it is. But it also takes up a lot of a persons free time when the person has to watch 5 seasons of a good ass show "Smashed" (get it?) into a very limited amount of spare time. But this video is a seriously good ass video.
About a month ago, I interviewed Danny Brown for Spin. We started talking about Section 80 and he said, "that if you're a rapper and if you heard "A.D.H.D." and didn't lose sleep, you're doing something wrong." It's a wonderful thing when the rap world can anoint the next star based on talent instead of the usual trivial concerns. Rappers on bikes > rappers in Bentleys. Here's a new video for Kendrick Lamar's "A.D.H.D." off the acclaimed Section.80. The video was directed by Va$htie, who had this to say to LifeAndTimes : “I had the honor of directing a music video for one of my new favorite artists – Kendrick Lamar. After falling in love with his mixtape Section.80 and playing it on repeat, I was given the choice to pick any song to direct. I settled on “A.D.H.D.” for it’s dark beat and melancholy lyrics, tones that have always resonated with me. Like most [...]

Local Los Angeles rapper Kendrick Lamar unfortunately was not on the recent Rock The Bells bill in the area, but his show at The Music Box over the same weekend was nearly as big of a story in the hip hop community. He has a Recommended record in Section 80 and this new video for track "A.D.H.D." Yeah, if you haven't been paying attention yet, it may be time to start.
Unlike Lil Wayne in his brand-new "How To Love" video , the restless and inventive young L.A. rapper Kendrick Lamar doesn't attempt to cram a Lifetime movie's worth of plot points into his clip for "A.D.H.D." He doesn't try to find room for any plot at all. Instead, the video, from director Va$htie , finds Lamar and friends cruising through a bodega and an empty office, and it gets over on pure kids-having-fun atmosphere. Watch it below. Read More...
