Another over-the-top live performance from Skeletal Lamping ... See more MJTV video Listen to Musical Justice

Yes, it's all subjective and we know that. Yes, it's impossible to give a fair assessment of all the music released in some form in 2008, because collectively as a group of music lovers and writers we certainly haven't listened to 1/1000th of the new music that came out in 2008. And yes, we know that there are nearly as many year-end lists of the best new music as there was new music in 2008, and like the past two years, we've still been working on ours well after all the other [...]

In a review of Of Montreal's 11.16.08 show in Denver I wrote: Besides the puzzled inquiries a few were verifiably freaked out. Most memorable was a kid sporting massive dinnerplated pupils screaming "Oh My God" incredulously while holding his face in disbelief. He raised his hands towards the heavens as if pleading for understanding. The cause of his outburst was a giant 2-man puppet flapping and kicking its giant arms and legs around. Of Montreal performed "An Eluardian Instance" on Letterman last week. In minute 2:16 the papier-mâché beast appears. [...]

Of Motreal is one of my favorite groups that I discoved in the past year. They recently hit The Late Show With David Letterman. Check out their performance below.

According to my google calendar, I was at a show at least 80 days of 2008, and here are the 15 I enjoyed most. While I attempt to be as objective as possible in assessing my best albums lists, this list is completely about my subjective experience. Here you go: 15. All The Saints, Summerbirds In The Cellar, This Piano Plays Itself @ 1084 After throwing shows and parties in my old house for [...]
of Montreal performed 'An Eluardian Instance' on the Late Show with David Letterman. They put on quite a show starting with Kevin Barnes entrance. You can watch the video below. Of Montreal - Miss Blonde Your Papa Is Failing [zshare]
Of course Of Montreal don't go all out for a one song television performance, but we do get a couple crazy props for the occasion: a curtained litter that Kevin Barnes pops out from and multi-colored oversized paper mâché pieces manned by a five-person crew that come together like Voltron to create a giant piñata.
See Of Montreal try to cram all the theatrics from their current tour into one solid performance from last night's Late Show. It had everything, from the golden buddas, to the giant monster appendages, to Paul Schaffer and Co. taking up backing duties. Pls enjoy. =w=

Kevin Barnes managed to keep his cloths on for last night's Of Montreal's performance on T he Late Show with David Letterman . The band performed An Eluardian Instance with a toned down flavor of their usual stage theatrics and shenanigans. Lots of bizarre things going on but much more family friendly then usual for the crew, and no horse on stage, imagine that?

Of Montreal played "An Eluardian Instance" on Letterman last night. I think "Id Engager" might have been a better choice, but this one made great use of Dave's horn section. Also I do have to say that Dave, against his better nature, did make a funny. After the performance - which includes lots of stage [...]

Back in October, of Montreal created one of the year's most iconic stage scenes when Kevin Barnes sang "St. Exquisite's Confessions" in nothing but gold lame short shorts on the back of a horse. Obviously neither the steed nor Kev's hottie briefs made it to Letterman last night, but he still brought some of Montrealesque theater to the Ed Sullivan Theatre, fusing bits of the well photodocumented live show's various props and setups (the little gold dancing buddhas , the weird thing with super long limbs ) to Gummy-beloved Skeletal Lamping [...]
<center I never remember to watch any of these performances, but that's what YouTube is for. I'm guessing this is a small taste of what Of Montreal has currently been showcasing during their recent live shows, though, no white horses or mobs of human flesh on display. We do get to see giant monster parts nearly molest Kevin Barnes towards the end of the song, so I guess that's something. For all you local folks, they recently added another Athens date (Dec. 30th) to their already sold out [...]
Of Montreal pulled out all the stops on Letterman last night, enlisting their usual parade of fanciful props and costumes from their famously theatrical live shows. Barnes emerges from a curtained litter, decked in regal Prince purples, to perform "An Eluardian Instance" from this year's Skeletal Lamping . [ Skeletal Lamping is out now on Polyvinyl ]
