Video: St Vincent Rehearsal: "An Actor Out Of Work"

With Bonnaroo coming this weekend, here's our picks to click, starting at he bottom of the lineup and working our way up. St. Vincent , AKA startlingly great guitarist and singer/songwriter Annie Ross, delivers her highly anticipated second album Actor May 5. New video "Actor Out of Work" draws inspiration from the disc's theme with some interesting results. After the jump check out a different video version of the song recorded by NPR at a SXSW rehearsal last month. This was a rehearsal clip for NPR from Annie Clark, delivering a little muscle here with a new track called "Actor Out Of Work." Looking forward to the new record Actor which will be out on May 5th.

This isn't a standard clip as its just a clip of St. Vincent and her band rehearsing for a performance at NPR, but for a bootleg the clip gives a good enough sample of new track "Actor Out of Work," from St. Vincent's forthcoming Actor . It's also nice to see that even dressed down, without guitar virtuoso gusto coming out of her in streams, it's still cool to see Annie Clark practice her craft. [...]

While the lighting in the video isn't the greatest, the sound is, and you can get the gist of how great St. Vincent's new album Actor is gonna sound. We've already heard the amazing first single, "The Strangers" and now here's a video shot during SXSW by the guys who run the All Things Considered blog on NPR. So far Annie Clark's new album's made waves in a few big bursts: First the extremely facial album art , next the fairy tale-cum-fuzz pedal delirium of the fantastic lead MP3 " The Strangers ." By Annie standards Actor 's pseudo-title track "Actor Out Of Work" is a relatively straight forward stomping rocker, though chords move with music school smarts and the riffs augment and distend in clever ways, and the embellishments come via ghostly backing vocals and twinkling keys, and yeah even when it's relatively straight-forward St. Vincent's still deceptively clever rock.
