I'm a bit behind the hype curve in praising Denton, TX, band Fight Bite . Blogs have been going slightly ape (a clinical condition) over the dreamy duo for some time now, as their self-released debut, Emerald Eyes , slowly disseminates. Above is video from a home town gig, in which member Jeff Louis is completely and utterly ignored in favor of the attractive girl with the Julee Cruise voice, aka Leanne Macomber. The Denton, Texas synth duo Fight Bite's gentle, lush, female fronted pop has us reaching back into the record collection for our Slumberland and Parasol vinyl -- or maybe early Magnetic Fields, before Stephin Merritt took over vocal duties. It's a claustro, dusky sound that somehow, for the first time in ages, made us remember both Orange Cake Mix and Flowchart. So far, information on the band is scarce.
