Getting Friday on my mind by turning off these liars on the TV. I have never known so many folks out of work, which totally conflicts with the "ghost jobs" being created by this administration. They've nullified Adam Smith's invisible hand through their fear-mongering and gross government repackaging, with the future promise of guaranteed higher energy costs for not just the rich, but everyone. If you're feeling the pinch you can hold out for those "windmill" jobs in the future. Don't listen to me. Research it yourself. In fact, research everything you read [...]

A temporary reprieve for my days of the week songs thing, which I kinda lost the impetus for a few weeks ago - having run out of really decent tunes for some days. I just had a look, and far as I can see, I didn't get round to this one, which can't be right, cuz it's cracker - and so's the B-side... in fact it's a toss-up which one I like best. The Easybeats had been absolutely heeuuge in their native Australia (well, they were from immigrant families, but hey) - and on the back of that, [...]
Well, it's Friday and you know what that means. Yes, my Oriental nafkeh metaphysical adviser Fah Lo Suee and I will be travelling to the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC for the annual batshit insane wingnut fest CPAC 2009 Conservative Forum and Cattlecall . I'm currently scheduled to host a seminar entitled "Rachel Maddow and the Lesbian Plot to Sap Our Precious Bodily Fluids," but I may be sitting in at the "Al Franken and ACORN: How Liberals are Destroying the American Election System" forum as well. [Author's Note: [...]
Being the third Shazam-related post in such a short time, perhaps its about time that this sweet little app gets it's own semi-regular feature on SubEx. So for this first (or perhaps third, but hey who's counting) time we bring you the newly dubbed "Shazam and Abracadabra." A few days ago I was eating at Chili's of all places, when I heard a dischordal guitar line that sparked my interest. I had to immediately Shazam this artist who must have been one of the few early 2000's indie rock acts from Portland that somehow slipped through my cracks. [...]

A few months ago, I played "The Very Best of the Easybeats" for a friend, one of the biggest classic rock fans I know. He'd never heard of the band. I suspect my friend's not alone and that's a shame because the Australian band recorded some of the most engaging rock 'n' roll that came out of the '60s. "Friday on My Mind" should be the anthem of everyone who's ever worked for the weekend. And young men looking to win the hearts of a young women and their baby boomer mothers should play them "I'll [...]
There's still something to be said for purchasing physical albums in a digital world. That feeling of tearing open the shrink wrap, opening the jewel case, and reading the liner notes is reason enough to keep me going. Call me old fashioned, but it...
