Kendrick Lamar is easily one of the most talented faces in hip-hop, with his Section.80 mixtape being one of the best hip-hop releases in years. While he may be talented lyrically and production-wise, his music videos never quite match up to that high level of quality. The same goes for the video for " Swimming Pools (Drank) ", which is pretty damn bland and boring. I guess if you want to see Kendrick falling through the darkness like the Persian messengers in 300 , then the video does its job. Watch the replay [...]
Given that hip-hop culture has long glamorized alcohol use (and even abuse), I have to give props to Kendrick Lamar for dropping this new song. Despite what its catchy chorus might suggest, Lamar's new single "Swimming Pools (Drank)" is a cautious, dark, and surprisingly personal indictment of alcohol use, and a lamentation of the place that alcohol has in the life of a rapper. To accompany the track, Lamar dropped a new music video for the song as well, featuring some well executed visual imagery that helps emphasize the dark undertones of "Swimming Pools." That chorus suddenly takes on a [...]

As it is less than two months before Kendrick Lamar drops his major label debut, anticipation continues to grow, as the Cali rapper releases a video for “Swimming Pools (Drank)”. Lamar does the impossible in this, and constructs an actual “smart” song about alcohol. A feat that should be heavily congratulated. You might actually feel a bit tipsy watching this, as the swirl of ladies, broken bottles, and bodies falling down are sure to leave you winded. Buy the single now . good kid, m.A.A.d. city , [...]
I don't want to spoil anything but no, there isn't a scene with Kendrick filling an empty swimming pool up with liquor. good kid, m.A.A.d city will be out October 2.

A song intriguingly following one man's complex relationship with the bottle while all the while carrying multiple sonic stamps that pitch it as the next hot club banger to giddily get wasted to, "Swimming Pools (Drank)", the newest preview of Kendrick Lamar 's highly anticipated Aftermath debut good kid, m.A.A.d city , hits the ground running as yet another triumphant notch on the Black Hippy emcee's "

Theophilus covered a Wang Chung song. Azealia is still sexy as hell. Purity Ring turned trap trippy. Flying Lotus, Earl, and a suspiciously Tylerish-sounding dude named Captain Murphy joined forces for the most mind-meltingly blunted jam I've heard in months. The xx came back to save us all, and Ariel Pink went all folky, '60s parents-pop on us. Jacques Greene kept it settled while TNGHT smashed us in the fucking face. Not to mention, Passion Pit came with a gorgeously constructed collection of candy-coated pop songs that, despite occasionally sounding like the audio equivalent of rainbow sherbet, are actually super [...]

With his buzz as big as its ever been, Kendrick drops his video to the song he leaked out a month ago. It's a very dope video and could perhaps use a remix. One would think that his Dr. Dre featured track The Recipe would have gotten visuals by now though. Anyways, here it is and let us know what you think.

Kendrick Lamar released his new song, " Drank " not too long ago. Today he has released the video for the song. It shows Kendrick rocking the Kanye West look- remember that? When Kanye was going all over the place using his drum kit and auto-tune to perform tracks off of My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy ? Well, I remember the red suit, gold chains and distinct dance moves very clearly, and they all seem to be echoed in the new Kendrick video [...]
Draked [drayk - ed] verb The act of turning an ostensibly joyous situation into one that is introspective and sad. Characterized by noirish ambiance, vocals that combine singing and rapping, and an adoration for being swaddled in antique angora sweaters. "Swimming Pools (Drank)" has been Draked. Of course, there's a fine line between drank and Drake. And Kendrick has the right to borrow from the kvetching Canadian, even enlisting his producer T-Minus to make this beat. After all, Drake swag Dracula'd Kendrick's flow all over Take Care , so they're even. Also, [...]

Kendrick Lamar probably should be one of your favorite rappers, if not in the top 5 currently. Every song he rips up with his monster flow and wordplay. However, most of the time the videos that are released for these songs tend to be pretty bland. In a way it's not a bad thing because the actual song is what should make it popular, not some viral video, but I do appreciate some good videos as well. Sort of a contradiction, but I think you get what I'm trying to say. "Swimming Pools (Drank)" is the [...]
