Because for all the words I use I can't really capture Anni Rossi's live act, here's an afternoon video taste of her unique flavor. I could watch this video 20 times and still be really impressed. The song is actually "Machine" from her debut LP Rockwell .

What immediately strikes me about this recording (besides the great cover), is that Steve Albini has captured Anni Rossi's playing very well, even though I doubt it was really that hard to do with the right equipment. The plucks, the shuffles and the creaks are finally illuminated rather than softly quashed by the lower resolution recordings of her that existed to date.

Minnesota's Anni Rossi is coming to town tomorrow. I've been meaning to rant and rave about this girl, but I've gotten behind and haven't found the time to do it...but this girl deserves to be ranted and raved over. Think about a more accessible Joanna Newsom with similar vocal range and irregular pitch idiosyncrasies as well as her proclivity towards strings. bei der gestrigen suche nach passendem videomaterial zu und über ora cogan kam mir ein duett von ihr mit anni rossi unter. da mir auch rossis stimme wohlfeil erschien, recherchierte ich einfach auch in diese richtung weiter. und siehe da, beharrlichkeit, die sich auszahlt. anni rossi steht kurz vor der veröffentlichung ihres debutalbums "rockwell". 4ad hat sich ihrer angenommen und bereits im dritten viertel des vergangenen jahres die ep "afton" veröffentlicht. will sagen, wenn man wollte, hätte man schon etwas besser über rossi informiert sein können. nun denn. nichts ist zu spät.
