Filed under: The Hit List , Spinner Says Getty Images If you read our list of the Best Albums of 2011 , you know we went through a difficult process of making our picks (we even ran our choices by this guy , and he's a harsh critic). So, rather than rehash all that, we'll just get to the chase. Here are our picks for the Best Songs of 2011. Have a [...]

Six Of The Best is a semi-regular feature that pokes, prods and persuades your favourite bands, bards and barometers of hip opinion to tell us six of the best tracks they’ve ever heard. The tracks could be mainstream million-sellers or they could be obfuscatingly obscure, it doesn’t matter. The only criteria set is that, aye, they must be Six of the Best . Think of it like a mini, groovier version of Desert Island Discs… Number 8 in a series: [...]

Jack White is already a living legend in music. Though he constantly evolves his style through different bands and collaborations, he manages to remain true to his blues and rock beginnings. Indie and mainstream fans alike embrace his talent, along with his mysterious introverted personality. It’s certainly not too presumptuous to consider him rock royalty, having had the Midas touch when it comes to all of his musical endeavors. The many configurations of Jack White’s musical genius range from soloist to supergroups and a few others in between. With The White Stripes saying [...]
I'm sure some of you must've been wondering if I'd fallen off the face of the planet and totally forgotten about Jack White now that the White Stripes are dunzo . No, of course not! But I have to say, with all his little side projects and record label business , sometimes it's hard to keep track of today's man in black. So yes, I have heard the new Danger Mouse and Daniele Luppi collaboration, Rome , which features the vocals of one Miss Norah [...]

When in Rome ... On KEXP today, I heard a strangely familiar track featuring the vocals of Jack White. It was clever and catchy, and immediately stuck to my brain. A little investigating lead me to the discovery of its origin: yet another awesome project involving the musical mastermind Danger Mouse . I remember briefly hearing about Danger Mouse's " Rome " project, but had apparently forgotten. For those who aren't aware, Rome is supposed to be Danger Mouse's interpretation of a Spaghetti Western score [...]
Rome is Spaghetti-Western inspired album five years in the making by film score/composer Daniele Luppi and producer Danger Mouse . The record finally sees its release in May and includes tracks featuring the now non-striped Jack White and sultry jazz singer Norah Jones. 'Two Against One' has classical guitar, harpsichord and Jack White's trade mark yelps where 'Black' has washes of strings and Norah Jones' velvety tones. Both tracks will be issued as a limited-edition vinyl release for Record Store Day on April 16th. [...]

One of the more intriguing collaborations in the works these days, Danger Mouse is teaming up with cross-discipline artist Daniele Luppi towards their upcoming album Rome , from where this track "Two Against One" will reside, featuring former White Stripes half Jack White. Slow and dreamy acoustic feel on this one, cool track though loaded with some obvious talent and classic vocals from White. Also check out the previous leak off the album - "Black" featuring Grammy-winning and sexy-as-can-be Norah Jones. [...]

A tribute to '602s Spaghetti Western scores that's co-helmed by Grammy-winning producer Danger Mouse and Italian composer Daniele Luppi , starring Norah Jones and (the ever-busy) Jack White , and featuring only vintage instruments played by the same musicians who had previously earned gigs in the decades-old sub-genre's hey-day, Rome 's concept bulges with so much ambition, it's a wonder Quentin Tarantino's name hasn't already been attached to turn the album into some kind of short film. Early previewed "Two Against One", penned and performed by White, [...]

Danger Mouse and film-score composer extraordinaire Daniele Luppi are releasing Rome on 16th May bringing together the original musicians from films such as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Once Upon a Time in the West . Yes most of these musicians are now in their seventies and well retired, but the talent involved in people such as Alessandro Alessandroni’s ‘I Cantori Moderni’ choir is undeniable. The whole album was recorded straight to tape with vintage equipment in Rome’s cavernous Forum Studios, and each [...]
