by qc staff There's a lot of aging rock stars in this week's Full Release . From the still-cooler-than-you Dinosaur Jr, who release their second album since reforming two years ago, to the most recent releases from Tortoise and Mars Volta. Even the most recent Sunset Rubdown album is beginning to sound like the work of an artist maturing. Audiomuffin praised musician and downright work-a-holic, Spencer Krug has come through once again like a successful shoulder-tap outside BevMo. In past posts, we have openly discussed our admiration for his projects including, but not limited to; Wolf Parade, Swan Lake and Sunset Rubdown. Not to take anything away from Dan ...
If there's anything I hate about a band its that they take themselves too seriously. Spencer Krug, with his multiple side projects (if you can really call them that anymore), dedication bordering on insanity and harsh self-criticism, seems like the perfect candidate. I just received my tickets to the June 13th show at Johnny Brenda's in Philly (woo hoo!) And I might be going on June 12th in Brooklyn as well. Music really doesn't [...]
A strange, yet artfully funny teaser from Dragonslayer Sunset Rubdown released this little snippet of "Paper Lace" (with the opening bit of Family Ties ), a song from their upcoming album Dragonslayer . For those of you who've heard Swan Lake 's version of this song from Enemy Mine , you'll probably notice how distinct the two renditions sound. I guess we'll have to wait until June 23 to hear "Paper Lace" [...]
