For years I've been writing about Flying Lotus as a kind of abstract distant constellation of a musical figure. This wonderfully short Over/Under interview that he and Thundercat did really humanizes him. As Nico Muhly says, the magic is in the pauses between the beats of their laughter expecially as they discuss eyelid tatts and Bob Ross. I would watch a web series where it's just someone throwing a crazy idea to FlyLo, him reacting seriously and Thundercat pausing before laughing at FlyLo's reaction. FlyLo will be doing [...]

Thundercat 's official video for " Walkin' " is obscurity at its best. From the Eric Wareheim influence, with juxtaposed visuals and a gallant unapologetic style, the cameo surprises are more than welcomed. Walking through a suburban neighbourhood, Thundercat tenderly sings to video vixen Havana Ginger , who is on his arm, and each house they pass - in Dadaist form - we are shown the world is a vibrant, crazy, circus. Obscure...but we like it! If you're a late one, who still has not purchased Thundercat 's [...]
Thundercat has released a new video from last year's the Golden Age of Apocalypse , which is clearly inspired by internet culture. It features Thundercat and a woman walking through a suburban neighborhood arm in arm as they sing and witness a bunch of strange people doing...strange things. A lot of the visuals are pretty funny, like trading cards with a fake Shia Labeouf and a business man with a donkey head. Everything is a clear twist on tame suburban life. The real highlight though is the Flying Lotus cameo.
Thundercat is the guy everyone you want to hang with wants to hang with. He's played bass for such diverse artists as Snoop Dogg, Suicidal Tendencies, and Jessica Simpson, most recently, teamed up with Flying Lotus to release a solo album, The Golden Age Of Apocalypse . He cites drummer Tony Williams as inspiration for the decision to dabble in vocals, saying, "If Tony Williams can sing on his album, eff it! I can sing on my album!" Right on, Thundercat. His new video for "Walkin'" takes his insane eclecticism even further. Because [...]

Thundercat offers up his official video to accompany his track "Walkin'" which featured on The Golden Age of Apocalypse. That effort, if you remember was a folly of treats for the senses and was created with a helping hand from the one and only Flying Lotus . The video is a weird one and sees Stephen Bruner and a friend walking the streets of an unusual looking neighbourhood. To be fair though the madness does ensue once FlyLo enters the rooms and we know the kind of things he's into . Look out for an [...]

Flying Lotus ' protégé Thundercat 's debut The Golden Age of Apocalypse was one of best albums of 2011. After various fan-made videos surfaced on YouTube and Vimeo in the months following the release of his album, the electric bass virtuoso has released some official visuals for the smooth Michael McDonald -esque track "Walkin'." Bass virtuoso Thundercat and his bestest gal pal take a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood in the music video for "Walkin'". Along the way, they encounter their happy-go-lucky neighbors, like the Faceless family, Mr. Horsehead, Mrs. Zombie, who's offering a steaming plate of her patented dookie balls, and even the little tyke that shoots lasers out of his eyeballs. With wholesome neighbors like this, you'll never want to leave (not that they'd ever let you anyway). Watch the video below. Thundercat's latest album, the Top Star-earning The Golden Age [...]
Thundercat's solo debut, The Golden Age of Apocalypse , remains one of my favorite albums of the past five years. Yeah. So if you're somehow still sleeping on the guy, you need to end that immediately . You're probably going to do that after you watch his video for "Walkin'" anyway, because it's easily one of 20122s best so far. Seriously, nothing is going to top the Flying Lotus cameo this year. NOTHING.
