Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Exclusive Getty The Flaming Lips are approaching their 30th birthday, an almost unfathomable age for a non-nostalgia act. They were already veterans when they took their weirdo shtick to Beverly Hills, 90210's Peach Pit After Dark. ("I have never been a big fan of alternative music," said the show's preppiest [...]

THE FLAMING LIPS, LE BUTCHERETTES ( Keller Auditorium , 222 SW Clay) Read our article on the Flaming Lips . SIMS, LAZERBEAK, CECIL OTTER, PAPER TIGER, SPEAKER MINDS, CLOUDY OCTOBER ( Branx , 320 SE 2nd) Minneapolis emcee Sims is touring with his latest full-length, Bad Time Zoo, a wildly energetic recording full of introspection projected upon a dystopian version of the present. The disconnection between our virtual selves and those we interact [...]

After making an extremely limited-edition tour poster in his own blood , Wayne Coyne – frontman of The Flaming Lips – is taking his band on a much more family friendly endeavor in early November. Entertainment Weekly reports that the Oklahoma psych-rock kings will be featured in an episode of Nick Jr.’s Yo Gabba Gabba! The Lips will perform “I Can Be A Frog” on the November 5th episode of the show, and while Entertainment Weekly 's report says the song is [...]
and now the first thing that have to be done are going to the immigration office to renew my passport. :D but before that, let's we watch a girl on acid act to be an evil, monkey, etc. and don't forget to re-listening to The Raveonettes also. :) ---- new stuff at the online store http://slantedtoys.bigcartel.c omm

Yo Gabba Gabba! is far more than just Nickelodeon-produced kiddie fodder. It's become a venue for introducing kids to music by Devo, Chromeo, Mates of State, Of Montreal, and so many more. The sho... Continue reading "Five Musicians We'd Like to See on Yo Gabba Gabba!" >
Album #15: Embryonic by The Flaming Lips I really disliked the previous Flaming Lips record so I wasn't expecting much from Embryonic . I put it on for the first time without any idea of what I was about to hear and I proceeded to have my mind blown. This record may not be insanely good...but it is, without a doubt, totally insane. I am actually frightened to listen to it with my noise cancelling headphones. Thank you Flaming Lips for restoring my faith in your bonkers imagination. [...]
Heard this morn on KGLT, a new Flaming Lips silly song w/ a silly vid w/ some silly speoken and mouth-sound effects: aka, we love it; from their album Embryonic: The Flaming Lips - "I Can Be A Frog" (Official Video)
The new Flaming Lips video clip is a celebration of a back-to-nature/back-to-the-wom b fantasy. The one above is not that video. This is one of their previous one, but it give a sense of where the Watching the Planets video came from and what stands behind it. In my opinion though, it's much better. You can catch the Watching the Planets video here . Sorry, but it technically not possible to embed.

how would i describe the flaming lips? front man wayne coyne is a cross betwixt jesus and doc brown from back to the future. a haphazard hairy shaman leading us not into temptation, but delivering us from evil. in a giant man-sized hamster ball. musically they're a heady mix somewhere between religion and science, as much studio as instrument, as much sky as earth. embryonic is another musical paradigm shift from the lips, a steady transmogrification from noisy psyche rock to swooning technicolour pop to this, which references everything from miles davis' bitches brew to can, skip spence, [...]

At War With the Mystics". Giudizio complessivo : Questa proprio non me l'aspettavo. " o [...]
Ditching the pop leanings of their last three albums, the Flaming Lips go full-on experimental. The Fearless Freaks are back. Over the past decade, the Flaming Lips have steadily built their following to the point that they now exist both in the underground and on the fringe of the mainstream. They've achieved this rather remarkable feat by releasing a trio of albums that adhere to a similar blueprint: add one part sentimental ballads, one part bombastic rockers, and one part instrumental freakouts, and you've got a latter-day Flaming Lips LP. It's all become a bit...
