"We see ourselves as an international band more than a Swedish one. There are not many bands in this country doing similar things to what we are doing. Also the people who seem to appreciate it the most are from the US and UK." Thus says Mono Stereo , a four-piece from Malmö, Sweden, but with a growing transatlantic connection. Their intensely guitar-woven music is the kind to seriously get lost in. It's trippy yet at the same time subtly controlled and puts you in mind of paisley shirts with large collars-just young men letting loose and experimenting. Allied to [...]

Why aren't we living in Sweden? While the prospect of great bands coming from there is hardly new, it would seem that 2010 will be the year of the Swedish invasion once again. Mono Stereo aim to be on board for the voyage and will certainly find their way into your heart. Shimmering guitars, throbbing bass lines and vocals that manage to rise above the beauty to add an atmosphere of dreamy bliss. While they rightfully acknowledge their Ride and My Bloody Valentine influences, we hear Postcard and Loop references that set them apart [...]

The Malmö band Mono Stereo is today releasing their debut EP "Space Out" ( 360 Degrees Music ). They have found their own niche with a sound that first of all makes me think of the sixties' psychadelia, but with an intensity and massive sound that reminds me somewhat of 80's/90's bands, like for example My Bloody Valentine and Jesus & Mary Chain . On "Orange Is Green", Sweden's Mono Stereo mixes psychedelic pop with shoegaze for a truly epic sound; it even dabbles a little in prog. The black-and-white mixed with color fit for early music videos is a mixed throwback of influences, from 60s and 70s pop to the mid 90s indie rock shoegaze. Mono Stereo's ability to create monumental pop heights spiraling with sound allow songs like "Orange Is Green" to genuinely shine. And, as "Orange Is Green" can off their debut EP, out next month, they're doing it early. My guess is that we [...]

The Malmö based Mono Stereo is a group that fuses mop top 60's with 90's era shoegaze. The music off their upcoming debut EP is unpolished and raw. For me the rawer the better so I selected their song "You Better" to share with you. There's not much to analyze here as the lyrics consist of the phrase "you better" and the music is a wall of sound rivaling the cacophony of My Bloody Valentine. You Better
