I have no idea how I missed this. I loved Art Brut's It's a Bit Complicated and "Pump Up the Volume" in particular is a great song, so I'm entirely at a loss as to how I just didn't notice that they released a video for the track. Well here 'tis. The "live" depiction of the band in the video is actually pretty accurate from what I remember at Bumbershoot: awkward stumbling about on stage, cheeky smirks and stares, and girls "[getting] stupid, [going] dumb (dumb)." The video takes cheesy to previously undiscovered levels, [...]

The oh-so-crafty Art Brut recently wrote on their website that EMI released a new single, "Pump Up The Volume," unknowingly to the band. The guys stated, "...it seems EMI have decided to release "Pump Up the Volume" without informing either the band or myself, making any kind of wide scale promotion rather difficult. Adding to this curious new marketing stratagem of discouraging sales, EMI have chosen to make the song available via download only. So no luck in the record shacks either. Please do put the effort into downloading it though. The band is very proud of it and it's [...]
This is not common knowledge, but a lot of cool stuff has come out of New Jersey. I mean, Bruce Springsteen, c'mon! And then there's fantastic pizza and bagels and the leaves actually change color. And yours truly was born there. Duh! And ...

( YouTube via Stereogum ) Download: Art Brut - "Pump Up The Volume" The always entertaining Art Brut have "accidentally released" another single from their sophomore release It's A Bit Complicated . How does one accidentally release a single? Good question. From the band's website (via Stereogum ): Attention, the Internet!! It seems Art Brut have accidentally released a single. Yes, the rumours are true. But how could this happen, you may ask? Why were we not informed? Why [...]
Talk about playing on the smallest stage ever. In the video for Art Brut's "Pump Up the Volume", we are taken to the set of an Australian talk show with sort of a behind the curtain feel to it. You...
this message was posted on the band's website : "Attention, the Internet!! It seems Art Brut have accidentally released a single. Yes, the rumours are true. But how could this happen, you may ask? Why were we not informed? Why was it not available in my local record shack, thrust pride of place along side the latest View recording? Well, my friends, pick up any thread of incompetence and it will usually lead you to a record company. That's right, it seems EMI have decided to release Pump Up the Volume without informing either the band or [...]
EMI's on anything but terra firma these days and as we've seen this past year, and now you can add Art Brut to the list of rock stars going public with their tales of label incompetence. The label has Art Brut on its back after the label released a new single for "Pump Up The Volume" without telling the band (or Christian Slater). Instead of keg standing in protest, Eddie Argos posted a complaint at Brut's : Attention, the Internet!! It seems Art Brut have accidentally released a single. Yes, the rumours are true. But [...]
What if EMI had a party and nobody told ART BURT? That's just what happened with the new single from those London rebels. Apparently the band got screwed over on this album by their label EMI and weren't even told that the latest album was released... Didn't you dudes learn anything from the SEX PISTOLS?? [...]
This is very strange indeed. A message from the band and management.. "Attention, the Internet!! It seems Art Brut have accidentally released a single. Yes, the rumours are true.
