If you're anything like me, then your obsessions tend to get the best of you. Making sure that all the items you buy start with a consonant, locking your car door exactly 9 times before walking away, or planning your concert schedule 7 months in advance can get pretty hectic to keep up with. Although I'm not quite the expert to give advice on the first two issues, I've got your back on the latter, so let's talk about that distant musical itinerary. Exactly 178 days from now, rising pop goliaths [...]

#5 - Foster The People (Saturday) I am anticipating the set from Foster The People to have the biggest crowd besides the headliners. These guys have gotten on just about everyone's radar at this point since "Pumped Up Kicks" blew up. Their music is fun and should be perfect for some entertainment in the early evening on Saturday. A nice buzz and some Foster tunes. Sounds like a good way to spend next weekend. FOSTER THE PEOPLE - HELENA BEAT
Speaking of Foster The People , the band came out with a video for “Helena Beat” a couple weeks back, and somehow we haven’t posted it until now. It features a future where rebel kids are in control, and they want the only people in town to be children. SO, when they find the members of FTP rolling through in their van, they are not happy. A series of highly entertaing tortures follows, as these children make it known that they don’t fuck around. Foster The People - “Helena Beat”

Here is this week's music singles chart for the week ending August 14 - 20. It's not surprise with the release of the new Feist single sits at the #1 spot this week. While there are new debuts from dancey electronica acts of Tycho and Poolside. Poolside for one does a cover of Neil Young's Harvest Moon. While Roberta Bondar and Bruce Peninsula are still stuck in their spot. Check out the music video for Salesman. Finally decided to add Foster The People in the chart since Pumped Up Kicks is becoming the summer [...]
Foster The People have been blowing up everywhere this year. From their smash hit “Pumped Up Kicks”, to their top ten Billboard charting release Torches, and then trading covers with Weezer. Somewhere in that madness they dropped the official video for “Helena Beat”. Check it out.
Foster The People , playing the Popped! Music Festival on Saturday, September 24th have released a video for the second "single" from their debut album Torches called "Helena Beat." With the band's current single "Pumped Up Kicks" rocking the charts and shaping up to be the song of the summer, the song has been criticized for it's lyrics about a troubled kid who turns to gun violence. "I tend to undercut a fun melody with a deeper message," said the band's lead singer and song writer Mark Foster in an interview with WXPN/XPN22s Eric Schuman. We [...]
Foster The People’s “Helena Beat,” the second single off its Torches debut (on Columbia), is sure to keep up the popularity surrounding the band. Directed by Ace Norton, the video for this track took a decidedly futuristic and apocalyptic direction, featuring a world aflame run by ruthless child warriors. The group recently received a VMA nomination for “Pumped [...]
It's Lollapalooza time again in the fine city of Chicago. We'll be there checking out the following bands and think you should too. Young the Giant – 1:00PM – Bud Light Stage With stadium-sized, anthemic songs like “My Body”, Young the Giant are sure to bring the rock early at this year’s Lolla. If that’s not your kind of thing, though, their softer edge is equally impressive with more melancholic tunes fit for swaying. [...]
"Pumped Up Kicks" by Foster the People has been my jam all summer long. I loved the song the second I heard and for whatever reason I wasn't compelled to go listen to the rest of the album, but rather I was completely content with just listening to that single obsessively. But just recently I decided to give the rest of the album a listen and I completely regret ignoring it for so long. Because I think my obsession new obsession with "Helena Beat" might be stronger than the previous one. And just recently they decided to release a completely [...]

Foster The People have released the video for their new single ‘Helena Beat' which band member Mark Foster describes as “ 'Lord of the Flies' meets 'Mad Max.’
Foster the People are getting a little on my nerves. (They'd be on your nerves too if every time you logged into Spotify, a snippet of 'Pumped Up Kicks' always wormed its way into your speakers.) Thankfully there's a new video for 'Helena Beat' to take my attention away from that other song. Temporarily... Click here to view the embedded video. Coco reviewed the band's debut album, 'Torches', released in the UK late last month. Read her review here.
It's too bad the new video from Foster the People already has a name via its song title, Helena Beat, because this one ought to be called Lords of the Flies Beyond Thunderdome. Nevertheless, Foster the People continue to prove that there is more to the band than their buzzy hit Pumped Up Kicks, as each successive single holds up to their first. So much so in fact, that I suspect we'll see Foster the People grace a lot of year end best-of lists come December with their album Torches . [...]

Indie poppers Foster the People has really started gaining momentum this past year thanks to their popular "Pumped Up Kicks" single (although that song is over a year old). It took some time, but it caught on. Following that popular track they made sure to drop a video for the song "Helena Beat." Again, it delivers the same catchy feel that "Pumped Up Kicks" has and is perfect timing for summer. The video is a little wild and silly, but it will keep your attention. Watch below. Fresh? [...]
Warning: before pressing play on the video, turn down the sound or else it will hurt your ears. It's weird that the mainstream has finally caught up with the likes of Jim Carroll of The Irish Times, who was telling us about how great Foster The People were last summer. [Read more]
Check out the new video for Foster The People's sick new single, "Helena Beat". It's like Lord of the Flies meets Peter Pan in the Thunderdome.
Los Angeles based indie pop band Foster The People have had a pretty busy summer so far, first releasing the hit single "Pumped Up Kicks". They have now released a music video for their newest single, "Helena Beat", the quick-paced, psychedelic opener to Torches . The Ace Norton-directed video, which depicts an alternate reality where children with guns capture the band and wreak havoc with fire and electrical shocks. Kids, please don't try this at home. Check out the video after the break.
Not unlike the songs on Foster the People's hit-laden debut album "Torches," director Ace Norton's video for the single "Helena Beat" takes a little of this, a little of that and a little of something else, and runs very far with it, in a "Mad Max"/"Lost Boys" sort of way. What, the label's video budget didn't allow for a Mel Gibson cameo? Oh well. It could be said that Mark Foster's bright, hook-laden electro represents a glimmer of hope on today's post-apocalyptic musical landscape. But that would be going overboard, wouldn't it? ||| Live: [...]

You know nowadays that when a band has a Vevo they have hit it big. Or at least are striving to. With "Pumped Up Kicks" doing everything we'd expect it to, the iconic single has reached thousands across the nation and has become one of the most popular indie/pop tracks this summer. To keep the ball rolling, Foster The People is here with a new single "Helena Beat" and they brought some interesting visuals with it as well. Off their May 23rd LP Torches , be on the lookout [...]
