A.R. Rahman - O...Saya Jah, see on M.I.A, keda sa seal loos ka kuuled. Filmi treiler: Jah, see [...]

Slumdog Millionaire is one of the best films I have seen in a long while. (This probably goes without saying, because it swept up the majority of this year's Golden Globes. And for good reason.) There are so many wonderful things about it that gel beautifully - the plot, the cinematography, the acting, the editing, and (of course) the music. The film is the story of Jamal Malik, a young man from the slums of Mumbai who is the winner [...]
Believe the hype (and the Golden Globe wins) Slumdog Millionaire is absolutely brilliant. I think the marketing including this trailer doesn't quite do it justice, the whole thing about being on who wants to be a millionaire isn't really what the films about, it's more about life in India. I wont say too much I'm pretty ham fisted when it comes to analysis, just make sure you go to see it if you haven't already. The sound track is heeeeavy too. The opening song is a new one from M.I.A download it here

It's been ages since I last did a movie review here in Athens66 (it's been a bloody long time since I did a proper review in general but that's another story). Nevertheless, I just couldn't leave this one without a post. I decided yesterday (along with my other half) to finally see Danny Boyle's (yeap..the old Trainspotting chap) latest film Slumdog Millionaire. And what a joy it was (Danny is

Slumdog Millionaire has received an absolute shit-load of hype, been praised by the critics and even nominated for 4 Golden Globes. The Danny Boyle directed movie follows the life of an Mumbai resident and impoverished teen Jamal Malik who becomes a contestant on the Hindi version of 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire', gets every question right and is then suspected of cheating. I heard Danny Boyle talking to BBC Radio 5 Live's Simon Mayo this afternoon and he ruined the ending for me by telling me what happens. I mean it's not like [...]

So I've gotten numerous requests for "that song that plays in the background of the Slumdog Millionaire trailer." For those who don't know, the song (which kicks in at about 1:10 in the trailer) is Sigur Ros ' widely (indie world) popular "Hoppipolla" from the album Takk . Mp3 below, along with a We Are Scientists cover. Oh, and go see this movie. Sigur Ros - "Hoppipolla" [...]

Simply put, Danny Boyle's latest film, Slumdog Millionaire , about a young man who ends up winning a game show in order to find his true love, is an enrapturing, exuberant experience unlike anything in the cinema this year (or in general). This film has a pulse. Slumdog Millionaire is a living breathing entity and we hold onto it for dear life from the very first couple frames. Jamal and Salim, two orphaned brothers, outrace police and racial infighting. They manage to escape the evil underground of child enslavement and they find themselves swindling rich [...]

You know my family really has diverse music interests. 2 sisters one of which listens to anything related to purity rings and disney ala Jonas Brothers, Hannah Montana etc. The others listens to mainstream, whatever that's on the charts kinda stuff although she does criticize half the stuff she listens to. Beats me. And the parents- they listen to well, tamil music. And the occasional Beatles and Elton John(Although the mother she stopped listening to him after I told him he was gay...I know right). So anyways the point I was getting at was that despite all the [...]
10. In Bruges - The film hypnotizes you with humor and then blindsides you surprising violence. Super fun! 9. Iron Man - The best superhero films are the ones that make you feel like a child again. Iron Man did exactly that. 8. Burn After Reading - For those who know the Coen Bros. style, this may have been too predictable. However it's sharp and dark humor and perfect characters saved it. 7. [...]

My mother put it best after she saw this film last week " Don't walk...RUN to go see this movie!". The film follows the story of a young man from the slums of India who find himself somehow competing on the Indian version of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire". Curiously, the questions he's asked all correlate to his gritty life story & he is able answer accordingly.. I know I stated in a previous post the "Man on Wire" was my favorite film of the year. Not anymore. Slumdog Millionaire stands alone. Great movie!
I know it might be a bit much to say Slumdog 's a "Great Movie" in a music blog post title because I am not a film critic (yet). But last night I got into a long conversation with Lindsay about it and she agrees , so I'm just gonna say it's the Best Movie and you should see it ASAP. I made a forced reference to the Danny Boyle-directed heartwarmer when talking about Sigur Rós and how "Hoppípolla" is in the film trailer, but that was before I realized Maya's got a new song [...]
Could Skins fans see resident horndog Anwar Kharral walk up to the podium when the Academy Awards air next February?
