Video: British Sea Power - Man of Aran

Two incidents this week have proven to me just how vital a band British Sea Power are. Firstly it was last Saturday. As usual we were in the Star and Garter and they played 'No Lucifer'. Listening to that song, it feels like something massive that should be all over the radio. There's big moments for festival crowds to shout out and a clear chorus but then you listen to the lyrics ("the boys from the Hitler youth...a little lost roe dear") and watch the video and it's still 100% the same eccentric brilliant British Sea [...]

Man of Aran is a beautiful black and white silent film that British Sea Power created a sound track for that takes place in Ireland. In this segment the track No Man Is An Archipelago is featured. The song is similar to one on Do you like Rock Music? but it works beautifully. I don't don't care. Glad to hear such stellar music form these Brighton chaps.

Man of Aran , the 1934 film detailing the hard knocks life of folks on the Aran Islands (located just off the coast of Ireland), got more than the Criterion Collection treatment upon its DVD release. The Aran Islands are situated off the coast of Clare in the west of Ireland. All 3 are rugged and spectacularly beautiful. I remember waking up on a beach on Inis Thiar many moons ago and thinking I had washed up in paradise such was the beauty all around.
