
Gringo Star is a harmless power-pop group with a fondness for the British invasion. Despite their playful name, their music lacks the sense of fun or the absolute devotion to '60s song-craft that such a name might suggest. Underappreciated? Only around here, it seems. Having moved beyond the frequent show announcements on the back of wood shipping pallets, Gringo Star is now signed to an ambitious label that might be best known for its roster of quality alums like The Walkmen, Harlem Shakes, and White Rabbits, and getting national attention. I've had my eyes (and ears) on these gringos for some time. Now I've got my poison quill on them. Don't let Atlanta quartet Gringo Star 's name frighten you-the joke will be on you.
