A weekly feature in which our writers share their favourite tracks of the week. tUnE-yArDs - 'Do You Want To Live' (chosen by Niall Byrne) Both times I've experienced this song live in concert, it has sent a rush of elation to my face, a pins and needles sensation billowed to my fingertips, a wave crashed against my chest and my eyes welled up. Such is the awesome power of Merrill Garbus in a live setting. This song is pure fire, mystical and uplifting. It's fitting that the first time I heard this song [...]

Atlas Sound is the solo moniker of Bradford Cox, frontman and linchpin of Deerhunter. Although he's been using the name Atlas Sound for a good 15 years or so, he didn't actually release an album under that name until 2008 with "Let The Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel", loved all over the shop and appearing on most "end of year best-of" lists and not only gave himself/Atlas Sound more exposure but the same thing happened for Deerhunter. Atlas Sound's second album "Logos" was released on October 19th 2009 via 4AD, again to even more praise and [...]

These are the 51 songs that got the most plays and left the deepest impressions sonically & emotionally. There is also an albums list . 51 . Phoenix - Love Like a Sunset 50 . The Horrors - Sea Within A Sea 49 . Toro Y Moi - Blessa 48 . Passion Pit - The Reeling 47 . Real Estate - Beach Comber [...]

Favorite album (tie) Fever Ray – Fever Ray. The Knife’s Karin Dreijer Andersson harnesses dualities— organic/artificial, animal/human, male/female, adulthood/childhood—to create a fascinating and cohesive whole. I haven’t been able to stop listening ever since I first heard “If I Had a Heart” back in January. This is music constantly revealing itself, forcing you to look deeper. Sin Fang Bous – Clangour. The cover of this LP shows the song titles cobbled together from twigs, [...]

Logos is easily one of my favorites of the year, so it's really nice to see a video for one of my favorite tracks. Once again, download "Walkabout" below. Atlas Sound- Walkabout (W/ Noah Lennox)

Re: this song, our own Mehan Jayasuriya said it well: "On "Quick Canal", he lovingly builds up and tears down a cathedral of sound for Sadier to inhabit, layering a deep bass groove, tambourine hits and a wall of gently panning organs atop a steady, shuffling beat. Midway through, the song falls apart, briefly taking a detour into glitchy noise before giving way to a squall of fuzzed-out guitars. Try as Cox might to obfuscate...
I really love Atlas Sound's latest LP Logos - it has terrific replay value that catapults the album into a list containing "best" and "2009" in the title. The video is for the epic eight-minute song "Quick Canal" featuring Stereolab's own Lætitia Sadier. Although the video surfaced on YouTube about a month ago, 4AD did not designate it an official music video but did give it their seal of approval. The song is a slow building bundle of beauty complete with a video sampling segments [...]

Here's the new video for Atlas Sound 's "Quick Canal", featuring Stereolab 's Laetitia Sadier on vocals. It's one of the stronger, poppier tracks on the excellent Logos and features and very Stereolab-esque bass line. Atlas Sound: "Quick Canal" - created by Fitz Vladich:
