"I'd Rather Dance with You" is the eighth song from the album Riot on an Empty Street by Kings of Convenience. It was released as a single November 2, 2004. There is a remix to this song by the talented Bostonian Producer/DJ Redlight . What we like the most about this remix is that Redlight was able to create an electronic remix to this song without taking away the melodies and charming vocals that made the original song so great. I'd Rather Dance with Yo [...]
Norwegian duo Eirik Bøe and Erlend Øye, the mellow royalty known as Kings of Convenience , have a thing for minimalist folk/pop, a passion that leads Øye to boast that their forthcoming Declaration of Dependence (October 20) just might be "the most rhythmical pop record ever that features no percussion or drums." Of course, rhythm is a relative term but suffice to say that the kind of beats we're talking about with the Kings is more about those to clink your champagne flutes to on some sultry, moonlit seaside terrace than anything involving the possibility of breaking [...]

Last week, I gave you the tell-all Joey Linello story. If you missed it (and I think many of you did), you should go here and read it. (Not that it's a prerequisite for this column.) But I do want to give you a very brief background on Joey, because I think it will help you know where I happened upon the idea for this week's column. Joey Linello was a character I created who was a bad musician, but who desperately wanted to be successful. He idolized bands like Nickelback, Creed, Three Doors Down, etc. [...]
Preferia Dançar Contigo do Que Falar Contigo:
Kings of Convenience are an indie folk-pop duo from Bergen, Norway. Consisting of Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe, the musical group is known for their delicate tunes, calming voices, and intricately subtle guitar melodies. Both Øye and Bøe sing in their tracks, and both of them compose. Erlend and Eirik were both born in 1975 (Erlend on November 21 and Eirik on October 25), and have known each other since the age of 10. At sixteen, they played together in the band Skog ("forest") with two other friends, releasing one EP Tom Tids Tale, [...]
Kings of Convenience are the male equivalent to Feist, so it'd only make sense for them to pay homage to the woman they adore and collaborated with on their 2004 album, Riot on An Empty Street . Listen (take note of their introduction of the song--it's really sweet): Kings Of Convenience - Gatekeeper - Live @ Fabrik, Hamburg (Feist Cover) And here's a song they did with Feist: Kings Of Convenience - Know How (featuring Feist) And how can you not feel good after seeing [...]
