Yes, it is New Moon day over here. It's going to be the movie event of the year, much like the way Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol was the book event of the year. So the soundtrack is sure to sell bucketloads. Especially when you see that there's some damn good artists on there - ones the cool kids like - not just Team Edward or Team Jacob fans. The soundtrack is out October 20th, with the movie exactly a month later. Hopefully Thom's and Ben's videos will be left on youtube for a little longer [...]
It's so hard being beautiful and immortal. What do Thom Yorke, Justin Vernon, and Ben Gibbard all have in common? (Besides, of course, all taking part in producing some of the best albums of the past ten years.) Well, they have all agreed to contribute original tunes to the next installment in the vampire-love "Twilight" trilogy. Ben Gibbard, with Death Cab for Cutie, is the first to release a single for the film. The track, "Meet Me on the Equinox," is a skittering ode to eternal love (you know, the kind that vampires have). [...]
Death Cab for Cutie has recorded a song, "Meet Me On The Equinox", for the upcoming New Moon soundtrack. The track is the first single off the album. Though I don't really care much for the movie or the Twilight series, the proposed soundtrack absolutely intrigues me. Alexandra Patsavas, the music supervisor for the film, lets on that Thom Yorke, Bon Iver and Band of Skulls will most likely appear on the soundtrack. The track list will be released soon, so keep yer fingers crossed! Download: Death Cab for Cutie - [...]
I love Twilight. I know, I know. Lame alert. I just can't help it. Just like with the other ultra famous fantasy series of our time, I started off being far too cool and thought these books were nothing but childish rubbish. But at the end of the day, I shouldn't even bother fighting it 'cos childish rubbish is what I'm ALL ABOUT. (Meanwhile I'm mega pumped for the Tomorrow When the War Began films to finally be made) Anyway enough about my shit taste. Death Cab For Cutie has put out [...]
It's no secret that you won't find a whole lot of positive ink around these parts about the last Death Cab for Cutie album, Narrow Stairs . However, it seems that the soon-to-be Mr. Zooey Deschanel and his boys have been making up for that with their last few bits and pieces. First there was the The Open Door EP , which was head and shoulders above its preceding alum. And now there's a new track, Meet Me on the Equinox . Granted, it's not [...]
Ok boys and girls, this is getting posted for the Death Cab for Cutie fans, NOT the Twilight fans. That's right, because I'm posting a song from a movie about teenagers (well a couple are teenagers and then there's a million year old vampire that by age considerations is a pedo), I have decided to act like one. And even though the soundtrack might feature Radiohead (oh boy, do I like them), Bon Iver (so thoughtful) and Muse (don't care, I'm not from the UK), I still won't get it because I don't want to increase the [...]
Hot on the heels of a new trailer premiering at the VMAs last night, the folks over at the products related to vampire abstinence/pulling out factory have released the full version of Death Cab for Cutie's "Meet Me on the Equinox," a song the band recorded for the soundtrack to New Moon. Why would Death Cab record a track for a movie about vampires' preferred STD avoidance method? Because they have no shame, that's why. [ Stereogum ]
While you were busy applauding Beyoncé's resolution of the Taylor Swift/Kanye West crisis, you probably forgot to log on to mtv.com to hear the first single from the Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack. As we've noted, the vampire flick might feature Radiohead, Bon Iver , and Muse, and definitely features noted Pacific Northwest bloodsuckers Death Cab For Cutie, who penned "Meet Me On The Equinox" expressly for the film . According to Ben Gibbard its "about meeting another halfway, because life is very short," a theme which applies both to teenage vampires [...]
