At the end of last year The Flaming Lips recorded this psychotropic cover of The Beatles classic I Am The Walrus at the Pink Floor Studio in Oklahoma City. It takes a lot of guts to cover the Beatles in meaningful way. Is this meaningful? I'm not sure. What I do know is that Wayne Coyne and The Flaming Lips are the pinnacle of interesting in rock and roll, and this video is testament to their throne.

Tweet vaso link Was there ever a more obvious cover than The Flaming Lips doing one of the stranger songs from The Beatles? Sure, Coyne & Co. turn up the guitar on it, and drop the reading of King Lear from the end, but otherwise, it's a nice version of the classic that was recorded in the band's home base of Oklahoma City.

Having recently recorded a set of Christmas songs with Yoko Ono's Plastic Ono band, The Flaming Lips have revealed their cover of The Beatles' 'I Am The Walrus'. The rendition was recorded live and is available to watch via the video stream above. The cover is a precursor for the band’s New Year’s Freakout #5 in Oklahoma City, where they will cover an extended array of Beatles songs with Sean Lennon and the Plastic Ono Band.

Se querem saber o que Wayne Coyne e os seus psicolunáticos receberam no Natal, com esta versão de "I Am The Walrus", dos Beatles, podemos afirmar que não foram pacotes de chá tília, nem frutas cristalizadas, nem meias, nem drogas sujeitas a prescrição médica, ou será que a colaboração com a Plasic Ono Band na criação de uns temas de Natal lhes fez isto? It's been a fruitful year for Oklahoma City's Flaming Lips, despite the fact that they didn't put out a formal LP. After dropping a set of Christmas tunes recorded with Yoko Ono's Plastic Ono band, the Flaming Lips recorded a cover of the Beatles' "I Am The Walrus," which is probably one of the least surprising covers if we're talking about bands heavily influenced by acid . While the rest of us visited with family, bought gifts for each other, and enjoyed some time off the daily grind of whatever it is that our lives entail, The Flaming Lips apparently took a lot of drugs. Hopefully that's the case, otherwise this "I Am The Walrus" cover is reason for concern.
