Word is that Daft Punk have a record coming out later this year, and we now know, for sure, who it will be distributed by. Columbia are the lucky major label, as the French house duo confirmed today. The news was broadcast with typical Daft Punk style, as all they simply updated their website to an image of their helmets and the Columbia logo. Here's to hoping the next update is a single release. Listen to a rare seven minute track Daft Punk made way back in 1994, which was unearthed [...]
The story begins when the boys were sorting out old staff at Soma. In an old decrepit box, they found a dusty old cassette, and discovered, to their surprise, that this is a unreleased Daft Punk track dating back to ... 1994. The days of Homework, yes. The drawers of an artist generally have little [...]

Just look around you: Fall is in full swing. The "Big Four" festivals have concluded, the leaves are starting to turn, and I'd be willing to bet that you're having some irrepressible urge to dust off your old Joy Division t-shirts and vinyls and take 'em for a spin along with your sexiest cardigans. And though the colors and moods are changing, and festival season isn't going to be quite as active as it was this past summer, the music doesn't stop. It never stops. And that should really depress me; it means work. But it doesn't. In fact, it [...]
From SOMA's own Youtube page comes an unreleased Daft Punk track from the 90's that never made it to wax.

An unreleased Daft Punk track, titled "Drive", from 1994 is finally available for your listening pleasure.
Last week, it was revealed via a preview that Soma Records was releasing an unrelease Daft Punk single, called "Drive," as a part of the label's greatest hits comp, Soma Records 30 Years. A few days later, and we have the song via YouTube. It certainly sounds like Daft Punk did in 1994, which is to say the band that made "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" isn't really here yet. This sort of sounds like what my dad probably thinks Daft Punk sound like when someone describes them to him. It's still more interesting than a lot of what [...]
