This August, Alt-J visited New York City for only the second time in their young careers, and played sold out shows at both Mercury Lounge and Glasslands.  And now, just one month later, they're back and already sold out Bowery Ballroom (but seriously, these guys are blowing up - they've shot up to 70,000 Facebook "likes" in under a year).  Don't get too upset that tickets aren't available though; you can always do some searching on Craigslist!  If that show doesn't work out for you, there are plenty of other amazing bands in town -  [...]

Not only is Canadian bred and Los Angeles based indie band Islands single, "Hallways," an entertaining little diddy, but damn will it get you moving. Yet, what set this song off more is the recent video. You'll get skeletons playing the hell out of their instruments and really jammin' out. They even got some fresh dance moves. Such a cool video for Islands ’ “Hallways”. The upbeat track is catered by a set of skeleton marionettes handled by puppeteer Toben Seymour. At first, Nick Thorburn is a bit nervous about performing with these puppets, but soon he can’t resist the fun anymore, and turns into one himself. The director of the video, Lex Halaby was inspired by the Max Fleischer cartoon, The Skeleton Dance (1929). This is the best thing you will see today.  A Sleep & A Forgetting are out now.
