The notion of Valentine's Day , at least as most of us know it, seems to be a polarizing one. I don't know if it's always been this way-- I don't even know how long this Hallmark version has been in full swing, but people tend to come down strongly on either the love or the hate side (the one other group of note perhaps being those that participate, but do it begrudgingly). Similarly, pop music was more or less invented for this love stuff, and one need look no further than the fact that 90% of all [...]
Like most teenagers, I spent much of my four years in high school trying to figure out where I fit in.

Dear Frontier Psychiatrist, My son still can't fall asleep on his own most nights, and so I hold him and sing to him until he falls asleep. The problem is, I don't know many lullabies, and I'm not particularly interested in learning any, so I end up singing him songs that I listen to. The problem is, a lot of the time the songs I sing him aren't really age or sleep appropriate-for example, I'm quite fond of singing The Dream's "Put it Down," which contains the line "I'm all [...]
Today is not a good day. Despite visiting (and getting treatment) the chiropractor 4 times the past 8 days, my back is still in a lot of pain. It is of course getting better, but very slowly and I'm seriously afraid that it will take quite a while before I'm back to "normal". And being out with the boys Saturday night and having far too much to drink and far too little sleep, hasn't done me any good either. Oh well. After all this blog is supposed to be about music, so I suggest we switch our focus [...]

Followed by a hype around the first Live Lounge CD published by BBC Radio One, more and more covers surfaced. Over the past years it has become a sort of rule that every new band will cover one song that does not really fit their style by another group or artist. The weirder the combination and the better the result, the more respect, hype and street credibility the band earns. And that works both ways. Plus, fans of Embrace for example, a semi-famous pop/rock band from the UK covering D122s ' How Come ' will propably [...]
A friend of mine posted The Smiths' video for "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" on her YouTube page on Monday. She accompanied that with a note: "It's Smiths weather out." It was a dreary, cloudy day, with the temperature hovering in the 40's throughout. I was not aware that this constituted Smiths weather - I would have called it Depeche Mode weather, but what do I know? Here are two of my absolute favorites doing their take on "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out". The Divine Comedy [...]
