Last Friday night, IFC aired episode 2 of Portlandia's third season, entitled "Take Back MTV." The A-Plot begins when Spike ("Bicicle rights!" "Shell art is OVER!") watches MTV for the first time in two decades, only to discover that the channel no longer shows videos; the M no longer even stands for "Music". Spike and his wife Iris (Carrie Brownstein) decide to stage a coup in order to reclaim MTV's former glory. Hilarity and cathartic satire ensue. But if MTV were to repent, and begin showing actual music videos again, there would certainly be no shortage [...]

For over a month I've been having problems with getting my head around the Harmony Korine directed video for The Black Keys "Gold On The Ceiling". It's impossible to watch it without thinking "DAFUCKDIDIJUSTWATCH" and yet I've found myself re-watching the video again and again despite myself. Could have something to do with the fact [...]
This is The Black Keys ’ second attempt at a video clip for ‘Gold on the Ceiling’ from the lovely El Camino . For comparison’s sake, the original video is at the end of this ‘ere post. But what we’re talking about here is this one, directed by Harmony Korine . Before we begin, I’m going to point something out to you, how much does Dan Auerbach look like our very own Husky Gawenda ? Weird right? But you know who looks more like Auerbach ? His vertically-challenged double. [...]
Here is the new promo video for 'Gold on the Ceiling' from the Black Keys. Er...not even going to try and explain this one. Just watch it below. Click here to view the embedded video.

One of the many highlights of last night's MTV Video Music Awards was Johnny Depp joining The Black Keys to perform their single "Gold On The Ceiling" after being honored with MTV's "Generation Award" by a particularly frightening looking Joe Perry & Steven Tyler. In case you missed it, check out the really creepy bonus video for "Gold On The Ceiling" directed by Harmony Korine, featuring Dan & Patrick in furry baby costumes being carried by giants in Black Keys masks. Or something. Video: Johnny Depp Joins The Black [...]

This is one strange video. I don't even know how to describe it. Just watch.
So I had this all prepared to post last night and even wrote something I think... but then it disappeared from the space time continuam. So even though everybody has already seen it I am posting it anyway because it's really weird and I like it.

The Black Keys have posted a decidedly weird/creepy second video for their song, "Gold On The Ceiling" from 2011's El Camino . It was shot and directed by filmmaker Harmony Korine who wrote and directed Kids , Gummo and Trash Humpers .

I guess The Black Keys weren't happy with their first video for " Gold On The Ceiling " because they just dropped a second video for it, which is definitely a slight improvement over the original. And I should point out that when I say improvement, I actually mean that it's a lot worse than probably any other music video ever made. I mean that as a compliment though, I guess. It's a bizarre set of visuals featuring the band dressed up as babies on some old school 8mm film that has a bunch of [...]
