You know you've had a good year when you sign on with Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music Label. Not too be confused with his Warp Records signing for his artist releases, the Glasgow local moves into the Very Good Music component of the fraternity as a producer ( as confirmed by FACT Mag ). Their budding relationship has been quite public with Hudson working alongside Kanye on G.O.O.D Music's 'Cruel Summer' and a recent appearance of Weezy at a Brooklyn show for the young producer. The news [...]
The discussion in regards to the judging criteria for this chart was a bigger process than putting together the chart itself. How do you weigh commercial success against production value? We tended to shy away from this year's trends and focus on quality behind the mixing desk. This list isn't to be viewed so much as our take on which songs were the most impactful in 2011 but more so as a countdown of the tracks that will continue to influence the soundscape and look forward to shape the sounds of 2012 and beyond. We look forward to your insight [...]
All of you that watch the show Workaholics heard the song above in the intro of the previous episode "dry guys", and I'm sure most of you had to immediately think, as I did, who does this song? and why don't I know? Well you do now, the track is by Hudson Mohawke, called "Cbat", and Mohawke definitely has some killer production that I'm surprised I didn't come across earlier. I'll post some more tracks from this guy below to check out, he's got a bunch of dope electronic/hip hop beats that somebody really needs to flow over; especially "Cbat" [...]

Summer's been long and i've been enjoying myself a lot. The blog has suffered but i know that many of people will be happy that i'm back and that blog will be updated with new stuff. There's a couple of new things that i'm preparing for the blog and there are some posts waiting to be published. First things first... I need to write something about music that's been in my headphones this summer. Of course there's been everything and anything but i'm gonna write about newish music (this year). Mix that's been played over and over again during [...]

Two years after his audacious debut LP, this Scottish electronic music visionary shows he can still wed experimental flights of fancy and pop-R&B glossiness with an unassuming, unbridled joy. The debut Hudson Mohawke LP Butter was one of the most audaciously brilliant albums of 2009, and we've been waiting to see what the next move of its architect, Ross Birchard, would be. Finally ready for the world, the daftly-titled Satin Panthers builds upon on the promise of previous Mohawke offerings. Birchard crams each cut with crate-loads of ideas, wasting not a moment of the limited running time on this [...]
Set for an August 1st release via Warp Recs, here's a track from Hudson Mohawke's new EP, Satin Panthers . Now let me start off by saying Hudson Mohawke is not really for everyone-especially not those who look for the finer, more subtle moments in electronic music. At first listen, Hudson's straight-to-the-gut approach can come off sounding like a bull in a china shop. But, for me, there's something liberating about not having to worry about buying what you're breaking. "Thunder Bay" essentially lets arms flail and kicks fly as plates fall to the floor [...]

Hudson Mohawke - Thunder Bay

Glasgow wunderkind Hudson Mohawke returns with this heavyweight club banger, the first track from his new "Satin Panthers" EP (out August 1st). "Thunder Bay" is arguably HudMo's rowdiest cut to date, featuring a tough-as-nails Baltimore horn line over neck snapping drums. HudMo works the balance between tension and release with masterful precision, keeping things fresh and dynamic from start to finish. The first official release since his 2009 debut album Butter , "Thunder Bay" is a bold statement of intent from Mr.Mohawke. drink the kool aid:
