Musicista, cantante, compositrice, attrice. Buon compleanno Bjork! Bjork, in islandese, significa "betulla" Nel 2003, la One Little Indian Records ha rivelato [...]
Allright - after the must-sees comes the should-sees. I hope to hear all these, but my must-sees overrule these! Here are a few we are looking forward to:
VHS vs Betamax. Finalmente VHS ganó gracias a [....]

I won't lie: I love "You Lie" even more than our duet of "A Moment Like This." Every good journalist lives for the story -- or at the very least, a great sound bite, or an unexpected revelation. For me, during my years interviewing music stars, some of my favorite moments were when they made off-the-cuff comments that wouldn't necessarily make it into my story but somehow revealed something juicy about themselves. Even better: when they revealed something juicy about someone else, especially a fellow star. When I [...]

Jeremy Messersmith's recently released video for his song "Tatooine" is a fucking adorable little construction paper synopsis of the Star Wars OT (original trilogy, hello?) set to a sparse...

Have you ever experienced the moments where you truly feel the music, when you're truly immersed in the song, seeming to understand not exactly what the authors may intended, but rather a more general context not confined to any particular time, region or notion? A rare occurrence, usually interrupted by a passerby who just can't seem to understand the peace you've suddenly embraced? An incident you can't reproduce nor hope to, merely chance upon? A singular, intolerated piece of serenity? That after it, still struggling in vain to comprehend, you can look into the artist's eyes and say, "yes, I [...]
I read a really interesting analysis of this Bjork music video, relating it to post-humanism and the frontier of virtual reality. It was written by Steven Shaviro, who is an English professor at Wayne State University in Detroit, and it can be read in full here . Excerpt: Questions of virtuality, and of posthumanity, are much in the air today. We live in a time of massive technological, as well as social and political, change. Much of this change has to do with globalization, [...]
Hello everyone, Starting a Music Video feature for Altsounds so I wanna hear your suggestions for the music videos that have made you laugh, cry or simply left you thinking "Wow, how fucking awesome/ beautiful was that!". There is absolutely no genre preference and the accompanying song doesn't even need to be any good! I'm not even looking for particularly high-budget, big-band efforts either, as long as it's well directed and you can explain why you like it! So, to get things started here's Chickenhawk's [...]

Chris Cunningham has made some great music videos in the past, but he recently made a perfume commercial more engaging than the majority of Hollywood films. In case you forgot how great his videos are, here is this:
Probably not, but that hasn't stopped the viewers of MTV UK to crown it as such, ahead of promotional reels by the likes of Michael Jackson, Madonna, and OK Go. Sure, it's all the result of an online poll, and one could argue that the clip is probably one of the most important videos of the ( seemingly waning ) music-video era, with its quick-for-its-time cuts and glossy preening, but the best ever ? Really? This result is kind of making me wonder just how bloody an online battle royale between Durannies and fans of the Jonas [...]
Today's video comes from my all-time favorite music video director, Chris Cunningham. It's also quite possibly my favorite video ever. Rarely does a music video director get to tell a story, capture the vibe of the song AND make very subtle commentaries on other things (in this case, technology, sexuality, and even our humanity). Most videos come down to 3 minute spots to get face time for a band. Cunningham continually rejects this idea, making his videos at once eye candy and pieces for thought and expansion of the artists original expression. [...]
42 today! let's watch some videos... "All is Full of Love" "Venus as a Boy" "Oceania" ...and performing forthcoming single "Declare Independence" on BBC's Later with Jools Holland [...]
Remember those days when MTV actually played videos? I do, and it was pretty awesome sacrificing sleep to stay up late Sunday nights to watch every last second of 120 Minutes . Sure, now I can fire up Youtube and watch almost any video ever, but it's not the same. Part of the excitement of MTV in its heyday was staying up late and not knowing what video you'd see. You'd know and expect to see the big names when they had new albums out, like Sonic Youth, Jawbox [...]
