Thirty years ago today, Ian Curtis committed suicide, leaving a void in post-punk as vast as his legacy. In recent years the Joy Division tale has been explored to death—if you've been vacationing on Neptune, we highly recommend this documentary for an overview—but one thing that hasn't been discussed enough is Curtis' visceral approach to modern choreography. The Drums are great and they just released an equally great video for their new single "Best Friend". It is minimal and yet still heavily designed which matches very well with our own aesthetic. "Best Friend" is the first single off The Drums upcoming debut on Moshi Moshi, out at the end of the month. I'm also happy to see someone dances exactly like me.
