Most indie bands/labels are on a shoestring budget when it comes to producing music videos, but 2009 came with the goods. My favorite video of the year was released in January for Department of Eagles 2008 song "No One Does It Like You." Each video has captivating imagery and each is completely bizarre in its own way. 1. Department Of Eagles - No One Does It Like You 2. Land of Talk - It's Okay 3. The Low Anthem - Charlie Darwin 4. Edward Sharpe and [...]
Patrick Watson's "Fireweed" Taking to heart the practice of quality over quantity, Secret City Records has found this to be the formula for success (and great music). Though the young, three-year-old record label supports merely five total bands, three have been shortlisted for the coveted Polaris Music Prize ( Plants and Animals , Patrick Watson , & Miracle Fortress ) over the short history of the award. Most notably of the three is singer/songcrafter Patrick Watson. He not only won the 2007 Polaris Music Prize [...]
I'm still kicking myself for having to miss Patrick Watson's show at City Winery. For anyone who also missed the show, there are a number of pro-shot live video that have gone up on the 'net. Here is some footage from WNYC Studios that was recorded earlier this month: Here is a wild performance of 'Hearts in the Park' that was filmed in a piñata shop in downtown Los Angeles: Lastly - here is Patrick's latest video "Fireweed", which is the opening track from Wooden Arms . [...]
"Fireweed" by Patrick Watson... Thanks grafista !
So remember Beavis & Butthead ? Of course you do. One of the most memorable moments from the MTV show was during a Wax video when Beavis goes sort of crazy due to his obsession with fire. The start of Patrick Watson's new video has that same aesthetic. For the first minute, it's basically just a guy on fire running around. It gets a little more boring after that, probably with some sort of artistic intent. Check it out after the jump.

Juno Awards nominee, Polaris Prize recipient, and bearer of the honor of opening for James Brown, Patrick Watson, has just released his self-directed video for "Fireweed." The expression of vulnerability serves this prelude to The Giving Tree well, definitely worth the watch. A few interesting notes on Patrick Watson for those new to the tunes is that Patrick Watson is a band as well as the man fronting it, he has toured with Amon Tobin, uses various items to make different sounds such as playing a bicycle, and his latest album Wooden Arms was released on [...]

Polaris Prize winner Patrick Watson recently released his new album Wooden Arms with, well the Wooden Arms (album review). They have just released a visually stunning video for the track "Fireweed".Watch the video here:Patrick Watson's websitePatrick Watson's Myspace
We received Patrick Watson's newest effort, Wooden Arms awhile back, but only recently plunged its depths. What originally caught our attention was not only the fact that Watson has toured with Elvis Perkins, The Cold War Kids and Feist, but that he used bicycle parts as a percussive backing.* The video above for "Fireweed" is a beautifully artistic, depicting a man on fire traveling across what looks like the New Zealand country side or maybe something from Cormac McCarthy's The Road . Who knows. The expansive camera work creates landscapes that are [...]
