Julian Casablancas Phrazes for the Young (Cult) Releasing: 19 October (UK) / 20 October (US, Europe) The Strokes' frontman Julian Casablancas is set to release his first solo album, Phrazes for the Young, off Cult Records. Recorded during sessions in New York, Los Angeles, and Nebraska, the intergalactic synth-rock of Phrazes for the Young combined with Casablancas' telephone-like crooning thrives on the same vein as the Strokes' gutter-glam antics, but is uniquely Casablancas in its sonic splattering, plus that "z" in the title just screams "way too hip". The fourth Stroke to go it alone Introducing the world to his solo debut via a strange theatrical trailer, The Strokes' singer/songwriter Julian Casablancas is finally showing the world what he's been up to all this time (apart from those collabs with the hilarious Lonely Island guys and his cameo with Sparklehorse earlier in the year, download below). We've speculated often, and missed his adorable sleepy drawl. While The Strokes' albums have admittedly gotten worse over time – less sharp, exciting and raw, more ponderous [...]

I was a huge fan of Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti's side project Little Joy so there's no reason to doubt the new project by Strokes front man Julian Casablancas (transitive property, obviously); especially not after watching this incredibly awesome, if not slightly foreboding, preview. Check it out.
JULIAN CASABLANCAS, one of the guys who started The Strokes is coming out with a new album. The video above is a preview, and expect to see him touring solo later on in the eyar
Julian Casablancasista tulee neljäs sooloileva The Strokes -jäsen syksyllä, jolloin laulajan Phrazes For The Young -levy ilmestyy. Tyylikkään trailerin perusteella luvassa tuntuisi olevan jotain The Strokesista poikkeavaa. Vieläköhän The Strokesilta kannattaa odottaa neljättä albumia?

I can't say I'm not excited. The images on this video is nostalgic of those earlier Strokes album art. And we all know how good those earlier albums were... Had a good lunch - homemade grilled chicken that was marinaded in lemon, thyme, rosemary and olive oil on toasted nutty bread with guacamole... proud of that. Time for some reading.

Seems like the new Strokes album could keep up waiting for a long long while. The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas is releasing a full-length album PHRAZES FOR THE YOUNG . The preview footage on the official website didn't show too much of how the album might be like, but I hope it won't be so movie-trailer like..... [ juliancasablancas.com ]
Are there ANY members of The Strokes left that aren't involved in their own solo project? It seems like everyone has their own little extracurricular musical activities going on while we wait for the new release by The Strokes. For...
Here's the "trailer" for the inevitable side-project from the Strokes' frontman. We've seen Albert Hammond's eponymous work, Little Joy, Nickel Eye, and now we have Julian's Phrazes for the Young. If the preview's representative of the majority of the record, I'm excited. The teaser video looks like its modeled after the work of Casablancas and Roman Coppola on the video for "Hard to Explain."
