Video: Wilco - Walken - LIVE on SNL
Ellen Page Threatens to Cut Off Jeff Tweedy's Weenis on Saturday Night Live
( YouTube via Stereogum ) Well, not really , of course. MFR's referring to Page's infamous scene in her breakthrough film Hard Candy (oh, that reminds me: spoiler alert! ). This past weekend, however, saw America's favorite uber-verbose sweetheart in a far more genteel role: playing host on venerable late night institution Saturday Night Live . The musical guest for this endeavor was none other than Wilco , who've just come off of the awesome five night stand at Chicago's Riviera . The [...]
Wilco, Juno, Hillary Visit Saturday Night Live
The revolving doors at 30 Rock gave passage this weekend to a varied set of Saturday Night Live guests: pro-Obama rockers Wilco, pro-Clinton politician Hillary Clinton, and pro-lesbian thespian Ellen Page. And after all that, it was a pretty weak episode. We mostly blame Ellen for that; that droll lifeless "I don't want to be here" vibe isn't just an act, it's her only act, making for painful sketch comedy viewing. (OK she was pretty inspired during the lesbian sketch.) The hightlight, by far, was Tweedy, Glen, Nels, et al, first for [...]
Wilco Rocks Saturday Night Live
Really really enjoyed seeing Wilco on SNL this weekend. And I was pleasantly surprised that they choose Hate It Here as their first song. Even if it did take till well after midnight EST for them to get around to the first song. The band also played a great full version of Walken at the end, with Nels guitar solo and all! Check out video of both songs below..... [...]
Wilco On "SNL": The Role Of Jeff Tweedy Will Be Played By Vincent D'Onofrio [Videodrone]
While a lot of the scuttlebutt from this weekend's Saturday Night Live will probably be about Hillary Clinton's bright-eyed cameo and Andy Samberg's spot-on Diablo Cody impersonation (complete with Nate Dogg reference!), I thought the most notable part of the episode was the fact that, for the first time in forever, the band actually sounded good. Wilco's two songs were, for the most part, free of the mixing problems and cruddy amplification that have plagued so many other bands playing the Grand Central Station-decorated stage. (But surely I'm not the only one who a) thought Jeff [...]
