New York's A Place to Bury Strangers has been around for nearly a decade, and, in that time, the band has garnered a solid fan base for its unrelentingly loud slabs of noise. The band's sophomo... Every had anything stolen from you?... It sucks doesn't it? Well that's exaxctly what happened to A Place To Bury Strangers in Rome last Friday night. They had there tour van stolen from outside the venue by some thieving bastard(s). Most of their gear/equipment was still in the venue at the time but nonetheless a lot of merchandise takings and personal belongings etc were in the van. They posted this update on the matter on their Facebook page a few [...]
O fabuloso trio Brooklyiano, Place To Bury Strangers, têm um vídeo novo para "In Your Heart", que é também o nome do seu recente EP.(Via Pitchfork TV)O velhinho vídeo de "I Know I´ll See You", do disco de estreia de 2007:
I had the opportunity to check this band out a couple weekends back at the Rock and Roll Hotel in DC. Excellent stuff. Noisy, heavy shoegaze. Sorry for the short post, but hopefully it's better than nothing.
About a decade ago, I fell in love with a little known band from southern Virginia called Skywave . Their sound, a sort of mashing of Jesus and Mary Chain with the effects laden shoegaze swirl of My Bloody Valentine, caught my ear and never let go. Many a mix tape/cd of the past decade has included a track from Skywave and I still listen to Echodrone pretty regularly. I even posted about them in the "retro" category on the Drawer , going so far as to find out what they were up [...]

On the final night of the 2008 South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin, unassuming downtown patrons filed into Cedar Street Courtyard for a casual drink. Within minutes, A Place to Bury Strangers - most recently in Houston opening for Nine Inch Nails back in August - cleared the place, ushering an absolutely deafening set of loveless, shoegazed psychocandy. "I Know I'll See You" The effect is intentional. Guitarist/singer Oliver Ackermann owns and operates Death By Audio, an effects-pedal company whose gear has been used by [...]

Do you like gothic-leaning industrial music? Do you practice putting on liquid eyeliner while listening to Joy Division and Bauhaus? Are your favorite Cure albums Pornography or Faith ? Is the whole March Violets/Gene Loves Jezebel/Sisters of Mercy type of doom-rock your cup of tea? Then you're in luck, as Loud as Fuck(tm) band A Place to Bury Strangers is confirmed at the Bluebird on Monday, March 10, 2008. Holy Fuck -- a band fond of danceable, abstract digi-noise -- is opening. My gothic heart is already weeping tears of [...]
Wow. I held some serious reservations going into the Silverlake Lounge last night, but thank Evan Almighty (not a good movie) that Oliver Ackerman and his fuzz-kateers delivered a mind-rattling set. Back in March they were on my "to-do" list during the SXSW Music Conference that I helped cover for Little Radio . The only problem was that their set became spoiled by the venue's poor sound, weak monitors, and an overall lack of cohesiveness. It wasn't necessarily the band's fault because Austin's Red 7 [...]

The new video from A Place To Bury Strangers has that night vision goggles effect, except their is no Paris Hilton and we get close ups of the band members faces, the bass guitar, and other random images. The band...
