Video: MODERN TAPES - CAROLINE

So, Modern Tapes apparently don't want you to know where they're from, but they're pretty cool. They call themselves new wave/post-punk and that's for the most part accurate, maybe a little bit cleaner/more poppy than most other bands doing similar stuff. They're pumping the video above...so...yeah...check it out...nice tunes-ness...and video-ness...and falsetto-ness...

I can't help but wonder how much of Modern Tapes ' bio is true; it may all be true. According to the bio, they formed in a bomb shelter last year, recording in claustrophobic underground conditions. Their sound is a play on that from a generation ago, tweaked and adjusted to be new and fresh. It's a sound that blends a post punk efficacy with an influence of dark 80s new wave pop. Não se sabe muito sobre os Modern Tapes, para além de que são israelitas, de Telavive, e que "Caroline" é um dos temas do seu homónimo EP de estreia. O vídeo de "Caroline" tem uma clara influência, no que diz respeito à coreografia da bailarina, do vídeo promocional do tema "What A Feeling", por Irene Cara, do filme "Flashdance", de 1983.
