I was hoping for a Grizzly Bear album this year, and it seems like I'm gonna get it. After a handful of solo projects since the release of the band's 2009 album, Veckatimest , the band is back with a new single titled "Sleeping Ute." I'm actually very impressed with it, and it's a surprise considering I wasn't as big on Veckatimest as I was the band's previous album, Yellow House . To me, Veckatimest seemed to strip back the complexities I originally fell in love with in the band's music, favoring [...]
Grizzly Bear are just one of those bands that are so bloody good that I've never met a person who doesn't like them. And even if I did I'd be like 'what...are you alright'? So joy behold the return of Grizz and the promise of a new album (title TBA) with this new track 'Sleeping Ute', I don't have to say much cause you know it's gonna be great anyway. Furthermore, there's a giant tour coming this Autumn with visits round the US, UK, Europe and NZ, so we're all happy - see here for deets and dates . [...]

Newly released track, "Sleeping Ute" from Grizzly Bear has balls. It also has a P4K Best New Track stamp to boast. This track has some of the usual quietly-falsetto swoops and swells, but also has a dark, beat-up guitar riff and keyboard line. There is no denying that this tune rocks pretty fucking hard. Should be an interesting album. Looking forward to it.
Well, it took me second listen and a night to finally share that new Grizzly Bear track with u. Sorry for that, but I lost track on Grizzly Bear after three years no listen, the last record Veckatimest came out in 2009. The new album title wasn't announced yet, but it will be released on September 18 via Warp Records. Listen to " Sleeping Ute " the first single of their fourth full-length.
Here at MFKWCRG, we usually try not to tell you something you already know, so let this post serve as reiteration: Grizzly Bear released a new song, and you need to listen to it. With the continued fracturing of any zeitgeist, "event" albums are becoming a rare thing, but there are a few bands (Arcade Fire, Beach House) that can get everyone salivating with just a drop of new music. And that's exactly what Grizzly Bear do with "Sleeping Ute"; the song is firmly planted in the band's wheelhouse, but with enough interesting flourishes to hint at an expansion of [...]

Earlier today, NPR released the first single "Sleeping Ute" from Grizzly Bear's upcoming album that still renames nameless. Edward Droste's voice sings firmly, while the guitar scales whimsically over loose (almost improvisational) drums that form scattered rhythms. Midway through the track we hit REM sleep, with sudden breaking noises entering, leaving, and interjecting. Basically, this is leans towards Animal Collective more than Fleet Foxes.
