Today marks the 50th anniversary of the recording of Tony Bennett's signature song, 'I Left My Heart in San Francisco.'

American Masters made it around to Astoria's own Anthony Benedetto, made a mess of it. It can't help that Bennett's so matter-of-fact and such a genuine Good Guy - for drama's sake, you wish he'd molest a puppy, every now and then - and that he himself adequately summed up his entire life with a single sentence: "I've had a fabulous career just singing good music."
