Yes, that would be the same Record Collection label that puts out albums by John Frusciante, The Walkmen, Murs and Simon Dawes, among others. This is quite the blend: a mainstream juggernaut and some of indie music's finest, with, of course, the musical stylings of The Killers, Wolfmother and Snow Patrol sprinkled on top. All of the tracks on the album are new, except for that Chubby Checker number. So with a couple exceptions, the soundtrack album for "Spider-Man 3" does a pretty good job of imitating one of my mix CDs. At least, the glass-of-wine-on-the-patio-at- sunset mix. Sure, the seated-band-soundtracking-a-gr ade-school-play conceit has been done before before . But hey, kids are cute. And who knows, by watching this one you might actually get some advance plot knowledge about Spiderman 3 you nerd! (That's why we watched.)

Don't school plays and the kids of former hipsters make such a cute pairing? I think so. Check out the action on the spider kid flying through the air. It's almost as good as the action of singer Gordon Lightbody's kick-ass sideburns. Dude would've been perfect casting material for Anchorman . For sure.
