White Rabbits are playing Coachella 2010 on Saturday, April 17th.

Back in June, I posted the Top 10 Albums of 2009 . . . So Far . It's always interesting to me to see if these albums continue to stand proud at the end of the year. Some do, some don't. Actually, more of them stuck around this year than usual-and more of the ones on that list continue to impress me than my July pix for the best mixtapes of the year so far . ( Recession Music ? What was I thinking !) And after posting the [...]

Here We Go Magic @ South Street Seaport in July ( more by Chris La Putt ) Two local NYC bands have scheduled headlining 2010 shows that are going on sale soon. Here We Go Magic , the project of Luke Temple that had its self-titled debut come out in early 2009 , play Friday, January 29th at Music Hall of Williamsburg with Midnight Masses and Glass Ghost . Tickets go sale Wednesday, November 25th at noon. [...]

I've mentioned my "wave theory" on new music before (see Memory Tapes ), which estimates that roughly every two weeks I find an album that stands above the rest. While my timing may have been off (it has been more than a month), I believe I have once again caught that seventh wave. The new album [...]

November is shaping up to be "concert month" as I have recently purchased tickets to four different shows here in the London. All concerts are at small venues (instead of large, atrocious venues like the Brixton Academy) where I will be able to get up-close and personal with the bands. First, I will be seeing White Rabbits (video posted below) at the Monto Water Rats on the 18th. The next night (19th) I am going to [...]

In case you didn't know, now you can say you know of White Rabbits. Buzznet caught up with Matthew Clark , one of the drummers of White Rabbits. For a man of few words, Matthew certainly can make a lot of noise on stage. Get to know Matthew and we hope you will be intrigued enough to then get to know White Rabbits. I posted the download for the White Rabbits' "Percussion Gun" way back in May, but running across the video reminded me how much I like it. (Plus, they're coming to town next week.) The song is on "It's Frightening," the Brooklyn-based quintet's sophomore album and first for TBD Records. ||| Download: "Percussion Gun" ||| Live: White Rabbits play Monday at the El Rey Theatre, with Local Natives supporting Bookmark It [...]
Brooklyn transplants White Rabbits are hitting the road hard with their upcoming North American Fall tour. The band is bringing its exciting show to New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Madison, and Canadian cities including Montreal and Vancouver. They will certainly be bringing their high energy to the stage with lots of new material from their new album "It's Frightening." Sure to be seen are instrument changes on stage, a few select covers, and a nice mix of material from their catalog, all of which NME must have taken into consideration when naming them one of the top [...]
Brooklyn's White Rabbits will be hitting the road this month to kick off the start of their fall North American tour.

How is a band making a political statement news ? Has Pitchfork heard of freaking punk rock? And, you know, good old-fashioned angst? Whether you agree or not with whatever The Fiery Furnaces have to say about healthcare or doctors or Obama or whomever , at least they're using their platform for something. Why not make sure the world knows that all of us true grandmother-loving, pro-American, 'young people' haven't given up our political involvement? They think that us 'young people' (so to speak…) don't care anymore, [...]
I have no idea why this happens, but sometimes I can hear songs dozens of times without really noticing them. Then one day I'm gobsmacked out of nowhere. This White Rabbits tune had this exact effect on me. It's been out for a few months, and I've heard it plenty of times on Sirius XMU . But one day last week I just suddenly realized how awesome it is. It captures that tense, brooding atmosphere that The Walkmen inhabit so effortlessly, and I can't stop singing it in my head.
Given that we've been loving White Rabbits both live and in the studio , we were surprised to see that the official video for "Percussion Gun" slipped right past us. The video is a clean take on the band's live performance, and uses visuals to put emphasis on their highly synchronized instrumentation. On top of that, the cinematography's nice and arty, with an emphasis on spinning lights. A nice touch, but dare we say, not one for the epileptic crowd? mp3: White Rabbits [...]

White Rabbits play tonight at the Crocodile in support of of their second full length, It's Frightening, notably produced by singer/guitarist Britt Daniel of Spoon. The Brooklyn sextet (two drummers, yes!) have been around the block, touring with bands like The Walkmen and Spoon after the success of their debut, Fort Nightly, in 2007. And while a line-up with multi-percussionists is not an entirely new concept, the Rabbits excel at using their rhythmic beats to keep time better than a Rolex. Singer/pianist Stephen Patterson's captivates as well; truly an indie dance-rock show not to be missed. [...]

It's all apart of my quest to help these guys become the biggest band in the world. Mwaahahah. No, but seriously, The White Rabbits have it going on. Some people reduce them to being Cold War Kids-esque and well, fine, okay. But it's like comparing Mean Girls Lindsay Lohan to whatever she's doing today. See where I'm going with this? It's Frightening is out now on TBD Records.
