Phoenix's "1901" has been one of my favorite singles of the year so far, and I know it's going to be on my favorites list at the end of the year. One of the great things about living in the year 2009 is that every great single comes with some great remixes. Many more mediocre remixes, but there are always some good ones if you dig deep enough. Phoenix Preview New Track On SNL The last time I saw sun inflected popsters Phoenix was at the inaugural V Festival and I could of sworn it started raining as soon as they stopped playing. Anyway the band preview new track "Lisztomania" on a Seth Rogan hosted SNL and though it's more of the same I don't think I'll ever get sick of it. Thomas Mars pulls the same lovelorn, cute as a button, coy Frenchman with the voice of an angel act that makes knees weak. Ladies be swooning.

Phoenix & Yeah Yeah Yeahs on SNL Last Saturday, French band Phoenix was the musical guest on NBC's Saturday Night Live and performed a few songs from their forthcoming album, the highly anticipated Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (due out May 26th). Did you see Phoenix on SNL this past weekend? One of the better performances I've seen on SNL this season, considering how poor the performances have been (not because of the performers though...one bad performance is one thing, but a string of them means a problem with the show), so that either means that Phoenix are that great live or SNL sound guys finally got their shit together. Uninspired SNL At Least Yields Extra Phoenix McCartney, U2, Coldplay, and now Phoenix are among the acts who've been asked to play three songs on an episode of Saturday Night Live . I suspect only the French synth-rockers' overtime was born of a lack of air-able sketches. Which is not to say the closing credits performance of nine-year-old soundtrack hit "Too Young" wasn't delightful. But it was hardly worth having to sit through another interminable Obama open. As mentioned before , there were two great Saturday Night Live music performances by Phoenix last night, and they're provided for you viewing pleasure below (until NBC yanks them down from YouTube). VIDEO: Phoenix on SNL - 4/4 Phoenix - 1901 on SNL- 4/4 It wasn't since MMJ's appearance that I was more excited to see a band play SNL. Phoenix played last night and I have to say I was disappointed. Phoenix's new album, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, comes out in May and is absolutely fantastic. It just didn't translate to the stage, at least not on SNL.
