Posted in Music Videos Play-This-List Fossil Collective are a multi-instrumentalist duo from Leeds, England. David Fendick and Jonny Hooker take their inspiration from Fleetwood Mac and Simon & Garfunkel, so you can imagine what they sound like before you hear them. Soft, but rich, harmonies that ease the mind - perfect for a Sunday Supplement slot I think. A debut [...]
Some debut albums arrive with a preponderance of promise, of things not yet realized but holding great rewards down the line. Others -- a rare few -- emerge from the speakers fully formed, mature, confident and self-aware of their place in the world. Fossil Collective 's quietly stunning debut Tell Where I Lie (April 8, Hit & Run UK) is definitely from column B, one of those special albums that simply knocks you over with a feather. David Fendrick and Jonny Hooker take understatement to a sublime new stratosphere, turning one gorgeously rendered [...]

“From the start we wanted the band to be a collective of musicians, you get more flexibility this way and stepping outside the standard band format has enabled us to bring talented musicians into the fold to play specific parts or instruments,” explains Fossil Collective drummer Jonny Hooker. “We've added brass, strings and slide guitar to the album this way, and we will continue to explore this." Originally meeting on the music forum Leeds Music Scene , Hooker, along with singer and guitarist Dave Fendick spent the first few years of their [...]

Former Vib Gyor bandmates “secretly chipped away” at new material under the moniker Fossil Collective to give us a beautiful and haunting EP.
Kurzum: Steinzersetzend. Fossil Collective - Let [...]

UK duo Fossil Collective that we posted about in 2010 here is back. Their debut EP Let It Go is scheduled for release June 11th . The first single they've released from the EP is the title track "Let It Go" and it is a hell of a beautiful track. Gorgeous strumming guitars and lovely melodies. Who can complain about that? Charming video from UK band Fossil Collective! Their debut EP Let It Go comes out June 2012 on Dirty Hit records.
Indie/Folk outfit Fossil Collective 's new video for "Let It Go" utilizes the same mechanics claymation is built off of, combining a series of photos to make what is quite literally, a motion picture. Inspired by notorious indie-gamer gem Minecraft and Radio 4 's Desert Island discs, the video presents a story"set over two points in the life of Edward and Anne, a couple separated by an ill-fated scarf saving incident. As Edward comes to terms with his situation, he uses ingenuity, determination and patience to reach his goal." [...]

Evidently, Fossil Collective [ Twitter / Facebook ] value the visual side of their band as much as they do the actual music. Up above is the artwork for the forthcoming Let It Go EP, which is out on June 11th, and here is the video for the title track and lead single: Both are of a very high standard - I'm sure you'll agree - and then there is the song itself: four-and-a-half minutes of delicate psych-pop with a folk twist, that relies most of all on some spine-tingling harmonies from [...]
Focus your attention directly at your computer screen for the next 5 minutes and pop on your headphones to enjoy this great looking an sounding track from Fossil Collective . The light and airy track will take you on a little journey to a better place, somewhere far away from your troubles. Soaring vocals and a subtle acoustic melody sit along side one another in perfect harmony. The video meanwhile transports you into an animated world telling a great little story of its own. All in all, it's the perfect package. The track is titled "Let It Go" [...]
Simian Mobile Disco's video for "Cerulean" is a six minute feast for your eyeballs when they didn't even know they were hungry. I've left my acid and 3-D glasses in my other coat, so I'm probably not getting the full effect, but it's pretty damn beautiful to watch those shapes and colors move. And on [...]

Tweet I went to Leeds once. Everybody looked angry, y'know, in that grouchy, red-faced Northern / Yorkshire way. They all looked like someone had undercooked their mushy peas or been tampering with their racing pigeons. The fact that somebody from Leeds could produce music that anybody of a sane mind might describe as 'melodic' seems absurd, like suggesting that mushy peas are a worthwhile local cuisine that deserves wider recognition. Yuk. I will maintain my hatred of mushy peas till the ground takes me, [...]
