Remember when everyone off Neighbours systematically left to "start their music career"? And you just thought it was because they were crappy Australian actors with no sense? Think again.

"Good Girls Go Bad (feat. Leighton Meester)" by Cobra Starship has cracked the iTunes top 25 today. I don't wanna be all, "Um, stick to acting, Blair," but ... maybe look for some more interesting collaborators, Meester. Like, this one wasn't so bad: It actually has some Song of the Summer potential ... XOXO

E’ il turno di Leighton Meester, l’americana classe 1986 che da un paio di stagioni interpreta Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl . La stronzetta mora ricca e capricciosa dell’upper east side, per intenderci. Su wikipedia ho scoperto che la bella Leighton ha da lungo tempo velleità artistiche nel mondo della musica, ora potrà farlo professionalmente avendo firmato un contratto con la Universal. Leighton Meester of Gossip Girl has signed a deal with Universal Republic Records, and her debut solo album will be released this fall. This is the first leaked track, entitled "Birthday", which is a collaboration with Awesome New Republic . Meester's voice certainly works in this sugary pop context, but the song is slightly edgier than typical Top 40 fare. Not sure how it will play to her audience, but she's not embarrassing herself by any means. It's Friday, and I'm indulging my Gossip Girl obsession.
