The Antlers Hospice [Frenchkiss; 2009] In the past couple of years, no album has come close that delivers the devastating emotional blow that Hospice delivers. In fact, it was our album of the year back in 2009. The narrative of the concept album centers on the relationship between a hospice [...]
I've raved so much about the indie True Adolescents that it pleases me to hear you're starting to rave about it, too. This e-mail/question comes ...
I've decided i'm keeping with the Halloween theme until it arrives so for the rest of the week there'll be posts assosciated with Halloween type stuff. It was the Phantoms turn yesterday so today it's time to open up the old "do you believe in them or not?" debate.... I had fun searching through my hard drive for "ghostly" songs. I had a lot more than i thought i would've. I picked a select few and tried to keep the musical styles as varied as possible. [...]

Just threw on some Band Of Horses. I haven't listened to them in awhile... its bringing up some great memories of old shows and experiences. Heres one of my favorites:
The Cars' blend of New Wave experimentation and trad-rock values made for nearly ubiquitous radio presence in the late '70s and early '80s. Often jumpily ambivalent and marvelously pop-wise in the same moment, Ric Ocasek captured the zeitgeist for people to whom even Talking Heads didn't matter much. Kicking off with one of the all-time great singles, "Just What I Needed," then winding its way
Youtube is presenting its first music festival, which is sponsored by our good friends at T-Mobile. Saturday's lineup is below (click the image) - enjoy. Watch it HERE

Band of Horses formed in Seattle in 2004 and in those few years they have already amassed a bunch of fans. Their catalog includes two albums, with the most recent being Cease To Begin , which was released last October via Sub Pop . Asked about Cease To Begin , lead singer Ben Bridwell said this in an interview with Pitchfork: "I guess the first record had some kind of country-ish leanings and things [but] I think there's maybe a little bit more of [that] feeling on it, a little more down-home, [...]
Okkervil River - "The Stage Names" [...]
At a recent show in a brand new venue in Manhattan, Band of Horses proves it's finally worthy of the buzz. Somewhere along the way, they've become a legitimately badass rock band.
This summer I saw Band of Horses in Pittsburgh and I have to say they put on an incredibly good show. They played a lot of stuff off of what was then their upcoming album Cease to Begin. I probably haven't given this album the attention it deserves because those songs were great live. Which is why under normal circumstances I would be thrilled to hear that they're playing in Toronto this Friday. Sadly my wallet seems to be suffering empty syndrome so I won't be making it up to see the show. Which bugs me to no [...]
Band of Horses have posted the first video from their 2007 full length, Cease to Begin .
Is the new Band of Horses-album the best of the year? Almost, I think. Take a look - it's a silly video, but a great song!

Boo! Welcome to the Halloween edition of Video Roundup . The the newest video from Band of Horses ' epic Cease to Begin , the timely titled "Is There a Ghost," calls to mind a whole cemetery's worth of ghost stories told in video form. Sit back, light a candle, and let the seance begin: Band of Horses - Is There A Ghost Spoon - The Ghost of You [...]
