I spend a lot of time doing a lot of things. Working. House and home stuff. Blogging. Twittering. I work at home. I spend all day on my phone and computer. I sit. To the average working joe, I would look a bit of a lazy fuck. Overweight. Sitting in my chair all day. The perception of me could quite easily be taken that way. I can't say it's right nor completely wrong. I am sitting on my ass all day. When I look at music, I am paying particular attention to the motivations and perceptions [...]
Soaked in an uneasy mix of excitement and apprehension, my interview with James Mercer was initially delayed as he was 'running late'. A minor delay was totally understandable, considering Mr. Mercer was currently engaged in an extensive tour of the US, before even contemplating the time he'd spend visiting the rest of the world. However in this brief wait, I began to really think about whom I was interviewing. James Mercer, the man behind The Shins and, through which, the man that had shaped so many of my angst driven teenage years, [...]
What did you think of Port Of Morrow ? I couldn't really get into the latest album from The Shins , so I'm glad that they are releasing music videos for multiple songs off Port because it forces me to give the songs another shot to sink in. "No Way Down" didn't really stand out to me when listening to the album but it sounds pretty decent now. I'll have to give it another try. THE SHINS - NO WAY DOWN
Long-time indie heavyweights The Shins have released a video for Port Of Morrow cut “No Way Down.” The piece takes us behind the scenes of the band's Portland studio. Filmed from a modest hand-held camera perspective, the video observes what appears to be a casual practice session. The simplicity of it all is beautiful and without embellishment. With a 15 year career under their belts, I’d say James Mercer and company are allowed to do exactly this. Port of Morrow is out now via Columbia / Aural Apothecary . [...]

The Shins released some new visuals the other day for the song, "No Way Down" off their most recent album Port of Morrow . The video is pretty simple as it is the band performing the jam in a small cabin somewhere in the woods. They are kind of going to the basics of it all with this, but it is a nice change up from the more expensive and high quality video production. Watch below. Fresh? [...]

The Shins have released a set of visuals for "No Way Down" off their latest LP, P ort Of Morrow. The video is a light-hearted, humble affair, in that it features the band casually jamming in a cabin in the woods. It's almost as if they're reconnecting with a time where they weren't recording in the studio and blogs would not write features on their discography . Watch the video below.

Watching this video makes me miss being in a band and hanging out in our practice studio for hours on end. Then I remember the smell and no longer miss hanging out in our practice studio for hours on end. Good morrow (get it) and have a weekend full of wonder!
After the creative and visual wonder that was The Shins ' music video for " The Rifle's Spiral ," the band has opted for a more straightforward approach to their latest video. The accompanying visuals for "No Way Down," from their latest LP Port of Morrow , The Shins do the usual stand-in-a-room-and-play-the-s ong type of video. Although it's pretty lackluster in a creative means, the band does sound very good when playing live and raw. Watch it above.
The newest video from The Shins most recent single "No Way Down" from the band's Port of Morrow , simply features James Mercer and the rest of the new members practicing in what appears to be their cabin-side studio. Check it out below, and grab the album now via Sub Pop .
Here's the new video from the Shins , for "No Way Down" from their very fine Port of Morrow album. This clip, filmed in their practice spot/studio here in Portland (in the restored carriage house that's on frontman James Mercer's property, if I'm not mistaken), looks nearly identical to the video for "Bait and Switch," also from Morrow . But this clip for "No Way Down" is a live take—the band's playing what you're hearing, as opposed to miming to the album version. Hearing/seeing the band actually perform is always infinitely more interesting to [...]
The latest video from the Shins very-good-to-great LP Port Of Morrow registers in a similar fashion to the Shins weakest songs: no frills but still perfectly pleasant. This is fine, because when the band really hits it song or video-wise, it's a totally memorable affair. (Case in point on both fronts: " The Rifle's Spiral .") Here, though, it's just the Shins at band practice, where the most interesting thing aside from how many guitars James Mercer has laying around everywhere is that they look like nice people who like each other and their [...]
