It is safe to say that Tyler, the Creator and his OFWGKTA crew have owned the month of February. These guys have blown the F up over the past month or so. Last week, Kanye tweeted that Tyler's "Yonkers" was the music video of the year, and with over a million Youtube hits it has become a cult hit. Peep if you will this absolutely bonkers performance from Odd Future on last night's Late Night with Jimmy Fallon . Did anyone else get a Gravediggaz feel from that? Tyler and Hodgy come through to frighten white America and absolutely tore the house down. I'm so excited for these guys and for hip hop, they're really working their way into hip hop history.

I can count on less than 1 hand how many times I've written about hip hop on this site. It's called Rock Insider after all. That's not to say I haven't been following what Odd Future aka OFWGKTA have been up to in the dark corners of LA. The group's hardcore brand of hip hop is something you just can't ignore. My feelings on Odd Future can be framed quite simply: • They terrify me and make me feel old. • Their talent (particularly that of Tyler, Earl and Hodgy) is undeniable and their willingness to hustle (in the non-selling of crack sense of the word) deserves recognition. Odd Future stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night Wednesday, February 16th. The Los Angeles hip-hop group didn't give the audience the typical run of mill TV talk show performance.

The Zombies, the gnome, the taunting crucifixes, the ski masks, the terrifying whoever the fuck Felicia Day is. For Mos Def's rap nerdery, for Jimmy Fallon not crumbling (or smirking) under the weight, for red soccer socks, tubas, for the Shorts. For The Roots (?), for not being willing to say " Girl, We Couldn't Get Much Better ." For going wild like rock stars who smash guitars  Undeniable. Because three of my friends who haven't really given a fuck about hip hop for years simultaneously bombarded me with texts to ask me what that was. Swag. [...]
