That headline kind of says it all -- and, gotta say, we're pretty stoked to see our favorite Jesus & Mary Chain apers getting tacked on to this thing, which, we'll once again remind you, will... Continue reading "The Pains of Being Heart Join 35 Conferette Bill" >
Am 22. September ist es endlich soweit, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart bringen eine 5- Track EP raus. "Higher Than The Stars" wird sie heißen und über Slumberland/ Fortuna Pop wird sie vertrieben. Der Titeltrack ist sehr ruhig und verträumt, gefällt mir sehr gut und ich freue mich sehr auf die Platte. Als Pre-order über [...]

Monday, August 17, 2009 Today's Quick Mention: Don't forget that starting today Pitchfork will begin dissecting the last decade of music. As I've already stated, I don't know if I should be excited or scared, but considering that they've been so involved over the years, these lists and feature pieces have to at least be interesting. Doing what most bands should do, the Pains Of Being Pure At Heart are further supporting their wave of positive buzz (most of which has been generated by [...]
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart . Esses vão na trilha de um dos meus estillos favoritos, o shoegazer . "A Teenager In Love"é imperdível, daquelas músicas que aquece o coração. Vão as duas [...]

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart may be the most enjoyable new band of 2009. Imagine a much peppier version of the Jesus and Mary Chain . Unlike the sad-sack songs of JMC, this band's music is full of vigor and energy and should be one of the highlights of this year's Pitchfork . Come Saturday - The Pains of Being Pure at Heart Young Adult Friction - The Pains of [...]

Initially, I resisted this concept of a mid-year top ten. It seemed like a cheap concept for websites with nothing to talk about. But then I started looking at the lists onmy favorite websites and realized that none of the albums I like were getting any attention. Given that this has been the best year for new releases since....the eighties (?!), I felt a need to throw my two cents into the ring. What follows is a list that I'd be proud to publish if this was December 31st. The prospect of six more months of great music, is truly [...]
Esperava um vídeo para o mais recente single, "Young Adult Friction", mas como não há, aqui vai o de "Everything With you", dos nova-iorquinos The Pains of Being Pure At Heart [ Alex Naidus (baixo), Kip Berman (voz /guitarra), Kurt Feldman (bateria), and Peggy Wang-East (voz / teclas)], formados em 2007 e com um primeiro longa duração apenas lançado em Fevereiro deste ano. Antecederam-se um

Regular readers will know how spot-on Musick is, both in terms of the actual recommendations and the speed in which we catch on to new bands. Where other music blogs follow, we lead. So, let us introduce you to a band that absolutely everyone was going ape shit* about late last year... The Pains of Being Pure at Heart . They hail from New York, are labelmates with Crystal Stilts and sound like something that would have featured on that C86 mixtape the NME released in [...]

No Pains of Being Pure at Heart, No Gains of Being Pure at Heart In between all of the highly anticipated releases this year, a few newer bands have been causing quite a [...]
Well, if you're in Austin, and dead set on taking my earlier advice, you'd be at After the Jump's official SXSW showcase. So hopefully you are already aware of tomorrow's more epic ATJ extravaganza, a house party at 1204 S. Salina St. , tucked away on the east side of town. (Or at least you were planning a morning check-in.) Free for all, free beer, all day . With the spirit of a drifter who might pass in and out of an all-day event before passing out entirely, let me give you another round of AV love for [...]
If you're looking for some fuzzy, catchy pop that will cheer you up, look no further than The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. The foursome from New York took their name from an unpublished children's story that a friend of singer Kip Berman wrote of the same title. Their music style reminds me of the late eighties/early nineties and brings me back to the good old days of being a kid. If you delve more into their lyrics, you realize it's not all happy and they actually have an edge to [...]
New York-based indie quartet The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart evidently wear their influences on their collective sleeve. Despite the 2009 release date, this record could double as an epitaph for shoegazing. Made up of guitar-reliant pop numbers, girl-boy vocals and lyrics that speak of youthful immaturity, you will be forgiven for thinking you've been here before. The Pains of Being Pure At Heart sound like a hundred other bands you've heard along the way, yet their irresistibly catchy pop has echoes of everything memorable that has emerged from the indie genre in the last 20 years. With influences [...]

Song The Books & Jose Gonzalez ~ " Cello Song " myspace plays: 17,276 mp3 download (zshare) Jose Gonzalez has the art of covering songs on lock down... I am not a big fan of covers, unless the artist takes ownership of the song (think Hendrix's cover of "All Along the Watchtower") or if the cover is completely different form the original (think Ministry's cover of "Lay Lady Lay"). [...]
NYC's The Pains of Being Pure at Heart debut video with the blissful pop of "Everything With You" from self titled debut The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart . The video was shot on super 8 film. Debut album out in on Slumberland and Fortuna Pop (UK). Directed by Art Boonparn, starring Carlen Altman and Peggy Wang. It's been awhile since I hear anything new from Slumberland, good their back. shout out my homegirl Tina for pointing this out. The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - "Come Saturday" [...]

About three months ago I came across a website for a band from Washington, DC called " Middle Distance Runner ". Alright, so what ? Well they sound pretty sweet is what. Are you into that whole indie rock/pop sound? Do you consider yourself easily approachable? Does it scare you to think that you will be older than nineteen at some point in your life? Are you older than nineteen ? Then you're going to love Middle Distance Runner . I'm such a weirdo right now. [...]

I recently found a band called "The Pains of Being Pure at Heart". I like them. It's a blatant candy coated shoegazer band revival, yes, but a pretty great one. Purists will assert that you can get the same sensation by listening to The Smiths or some classic Pale Saints. I never understood why those fan types aren't welcoming of more music to a genre they clutch to so dearly. Either way, I have to say this band ranks above a lot of the orignial shoegazer material that came out of the 80's. I'm sure i've killed off [...]
