Crocodiles are nice guys. Despite all the fuss about crystal meth, drugs, anger that surrounds this up-and-coming Southern Californian duo emerging from the same "scene" (but don't call it that way please!) that gave us Wavves, Crystal Stilts, Blank Dogs and many more, when I arrived at Bardens Boudoir - where they would later present their new album Summer Of Hate in the last date of their European tour - about one and a half hour late for our interview*, they kept that sort of composure and politeness that one would expect to find in British folks [...]
So 2009 is a little more than half-way over (and there was much rejoicing). Anyhow, with the year rapidly moving by, there existed a need to document the records that have been occupying my turntable and iPod like the Germans did France circa 1940 [too soon? No, it's never too soon!]. While I did go through the effort of culling the releases of the year into this list; the efforts required to actually reflect enough to number them was far too great only being this far into our orbit around the sun. However, I was willing to expend enough effort [...]
Crocodiles. Crocodiles - Refuse Angels from [...]
Here's some advice for you youths: !) Be positive. 2) Wake up early. 3) Collect talented friends. Not that one and two are rules I personally abide by. But three -- pshhh the most / best of all. Now, don't go around being a friend-whore. Just, you know... be cool about it. I've been thinking for the past several years of buying land in fuck-knows-where, calling on all friends and moving there to create most amazing shit. I think I would call it ... a 'caw-m-you-nh'. The point [...]
I've been meaning to write about Crocodiles for a while now, so I'm glad I finally have a reason to. Out of San Diego, Crocodiles export a sweet blend of shredded guitar rock mixed with a bunch of pop sensibilities ie. they take a lot of Black Rebel Motor Cycle and combine it with all the good parts of every relevant band of the moment... They pretty much lay claim to be one of the only new bands I listen to, apparently they're super cute too. So I guess that means it's that time to lock [...]
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club? Nein, Crocodiles! Crocodiles - Summer of Hate Crocodiles - I Wanna Kill
When we last checked in with the Crocodiles they were on tour with Ladytron and the Faint, and I was banging "Summer of Hate" a bunch. Now summer has actually arrived, and so has a video for the song. THX: MBV
Everything about this says "1969," from the sound to the haircuts to the sunglasses to the desert setting. The only thing that might be non-1969 is the video quality, which is more reminiscent of Thomas Edison. The influences are clear and this band has avoided trend-hopping by placing itself in a tradition. If a Velvet Underground-esque, black-and-white downer at a time when others are looking for fun-loving summer jams is your kind of thing, you're sure to like it. (Full disclosure: this is totally my kind of thing.) [ Stereogum ]
Two of the better albums of the year, and two of the more surprisingly great releases of the year belong to Wavves and Crocodiles . Wavvves and Summer of Hat e respectively came out of nowhere in 2009, and especially during these summer months, as their fuzzed out blaring grunge pop has captivated more than a few listeners. We'll start with "Summer of Hate", the title track off the Crocodiles album. It's a slower and more methodic track than some of their other songs, but it's bold and beautiful. The art direction [...]

Crocodiles - "Summer of Hate"
San Diego JAMC and MJ -digging BTW , Dum Dum Girls collaborators , and all around harworkers Crocodiles have a new video for their Summer Of Hate title track. (Yes, just in time for your summer of hate.) It was directed by Christin Turner, who fuzzes up their desert trek with a hazy pixelated double-exposed black-and-white washing. It's fittingly reminiscent of some lost VU outtake. And, as VaginaWash4u comments over at YouTube: I like this band a lot i saw them live great energy they did remind me of [...]
